Pastoral Runs in Southland Land District for License by Public Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral runs will be offered for license by public auction at this office at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, the 28th day of February, 1911, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.


SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.

Run No. 150B (Class A), Southland County: Area, 1,601 acres; term, fourteen years; upset annual rental, £25.

Run No. 491B (Class A), Southland County: Area, 883½ acres; term, fourteen years; upset annual rental, £20.

Run No. 323 (Class A), Lake County: Area, 23,000 acres; term, ten years; upset annual rental, £175. (National endowment.)

Run No. 323A (Class A), Lake and Southland Counties: Area, 36,930 acres; term, ten years; upset annual rental, £360. (National endowment.)

Run No. 529 (Class A), Southland County: Area, 3,200 acres; term, fourteen years; upset annual rental, £26.

Runs Nos. 135 and 135A (grouped), (Class A), Wallace County: Area, 4,320 acres; term, fourteen years; upset annual rental, £85. (Bluff Harbour Board endowment.)

Run No. 424 (Class A), Southland County: Area, 2,410 acres; term, seven years; upset annual rental, £7.

Possession will be given on 1st March, 1912.

The following provisional valuation of improvements is published for the information of intending purchasers, but must be taken as approximate only, as the final valuation has to be made in accordance with section 244 of the Land Act, 1908, at least three months before the expiry of the present licenses: Run No. 150B: Fencing, £75. Run No. 491B: Fencing, £100. Run No. 323: Fencing and draining, £470. Run No. 323A: Wool-shed, dip, yards, cottage, and fencing, £1,280. Run No. 529: Fencing, £167 10s. Runs Nos. 135 and 135A: Buildings, fencing, draining, and grassing, £1,200. Run No. 424: Draining and fencing, £120.

Description of Runs.

Run 150B is situated in the Taringatura District, about eight miles from Dipton. It comprises medium hill tussock-covered land, and is good sheep-country. Altitude, from 1,500 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level.

Run 491B is situated in the Tuturau Survey District, about fifteen miles from Mataura. Medium hill land covered with tussock, fern, and flax; good sheep-country. Altitude, from 1,500 ft. to 1,600 ft. above sea-level.

Run 323 is situated in the Kingston, Eyre North, Eyre-side, and South Wakatipu Districts. Nearly all summer country, but there is a considerable area of flat land on Allen Stream and Mataura River capable of growing winter feed for stock. It is good sheep-country, with fair tussock pasture, and has a frontage of several miles to the Invercargill-Kingston Railway, and adjoins Kingston and Fairlight Railway-stations. Altitude, from 1,500 ft. to 6,000 ft. above sea-level.

Run 323A is situated in the Kingston and Rockside Districts. Mostly high country, but there is a considerable area of low country of inferior quality fronting the Invercargill-Kingston Railway, and also on the north-eastern part of the Nevis Stream. The run is well covered with tussock. The Kingston Railway-station and Fairlight Siding adjoin this run. Altitude above sea-level ranges from 1,500 ft. to 5,000 ft.

Run No. 529 is situated in the Wakaia District, about two miles from Wakaia Railway-station. It is good sheep-country, with fair tussock feed, and chiefly comprises scrub and tussock slopes. Altitude, from 1,600 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level.

Runs 135 and 135A are situated in Taringatura District, about four miles from Wrey’s Bush. Portions of these runs contain long spurs, with easy slopes and flats, while the remainder consists of tussock and patches of burnt scrub. About 300 acres have been cultivated and laid down in English grasses, and there are about 200 acres more that can be improved by draining and cultivation. Altitude, from 500 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level.

Run No. 424 is situated in the New River Hundred, and is distant about eight miles from Invercargill by good road. It is mostly low poor sand-hills, with comparatively little feed for stock. Nearly all the vegetation has been covered up by sand-drifts.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral runs are open for license, and applications will be received at this office up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, the 27th day of February, 1911, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and section 91 of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1910.


SCHEDULE.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.

Run 199r, Tuapeka County (Class B): Area, 1,980 acres; term, twenty-one years; annual rental, £29.

Run 199k, Tuapeka and Vincent Counties (Class B): Area, 2,480 acres; term, twenty-one years; annual rental, £36.

Run 340B, Lake County (Class B): Area, 13,720 acres; term, twenty-one years; annual rental, £115.

Possession will be given on 1st March, 1912.

Locality and Description.

Run 199r.—Undulating country, with southerly exposure, rising from 2,000 ft. to 3,000 ft. Well watered and tussocked; fenced on three sides. Distant about eight miles from Roxburgh. Approximate valuation for improvements, £85. Improvements consist of fencing.

Run 199k.—Similar to Run 199r. Altitude, 2,500 ft. to 3,500 ft. Distant about eleven miles from Roxburgh. Approximate valuation for improvements, £80. Improvements consist of fencing.

Run 340B.—Pastoral country, ranging in altitude from 1,100 ft. to 6,000 ft., of which about one-fourth is good winter country, the remainder being good summer country. All well grassed and watered. Situated on the west side of Cardrona River. Access by main road from Pembroke, Wanaka, distance eleven miles. Boundary fenced on all sides, except the north-east side, which is partly fenced. The improvements consist of hut and fencing, the approximate value of which will be announced before the date of ballot.
