SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Nelson Land District, containing by admeasurement 76 acres 1 rood 26 perches, more or less, being Section No. 25, Block VIII, Matiri Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east and south-east by the road forming part of the south-west boundary of Section No. 3 of the before-mentioned Block VIII, and generally towards the south, west, and north-west by the road along the left bank of the Owen River; as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 5416/3A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
All that area in the Nelson Land District, containing by admeasurement 336 acres 1 rood 8 perches, more or less, being Section No. 17, Block XII, Maruia Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by the road along the left bank of Pea-soup Creek; towards the south-east by Section No. 3, Block XVI, of the before-mentioned survey district; towards the south-west generally by Section No. 2 of the said Block XVI; towards the north-west by the main Maruia Valley Road; again towards the south-west by a line across the said road by Section No. 16 of the before-mentioned Block XII, and by the road along the right bank of the Maruia River; again towards the north-west by that road; again towards the north-east by that road and a line across the main Maruia Valley Road; and again towards the north-west by the last-mentioned road; excepting that part of the main Maruia Valley Road, 1 chain wide, which intersects the land included within the above-described boundaries: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 5416/3B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Opening Lands in Southland Land District for Sale or Selection.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the twenty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and ten; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Level and undulating land, altitude from 100 ft. to 180 ft. above sea-level; light soil, inclined to be shingly; gravel and clay formation; northern part rather swampy; fair soil when drained; all old sawmill workings; no timber of any commercial value, recent fires having destroyed most of the standing timber; land would grass well and be well fitted for agriculture or dairying. There are some small streams on the land, and water can also be obtained by sinking. Section 48 will be offered subject to Mr. Massey’s sawmilling rights, which will expire in January, 1911. Accessible from Woodlands Railway-station about eight miles by metalled road to within half a mile of the sections. Remaining access will be provided when sections are selected.
