Union of Boroughs of City of Dunedin and North-east Valley.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the respective Councils of the City of Dunedin and of the Borough of North-east Valley, by petitions under the respective common seals of the Corporations of such city and borough, as provided by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, have prayed the Governor that such city and borough (forming one continuous area) be constituted one united borough :

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the said Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, do hereby proclaim that the said City of Dunedin and the said Borough of North-east Valley are hereby constituted one united borough, and also that the said borough so constituted is a city by the name of the City of Dunedin, and also that the said city so constituted and named is hereby divided into seven wards, with the names and boundaries set forth in the Schedule hereto :

And I do proclaim and direct that the number of councillors to be elected for each such ward shall be three :

And I do hereby appoint Richard Watkins Richards (the Town Clerk to the existing City of Dunedin) to be the Town Clerk and Returning Officer temporarily of the said united borough :

And I do also proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and from the fifteenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and ten.

SCHEDULE.

VALLEY WARD.

ALL that area bounded towards the north-west by a line along the middle of the road forming the north-western boundary of Block XI, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, from a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 68, Block XI aforesaid, to Section No. 61, Block VIII, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District; thence to the north-western side of the said road and by Sections Nos. 47 and 51, Block VIII aforesaid, to the westernmost corner of Section No. 62; thence towards the north-east generally by Sections Nos. 62 and 48, Block VIII aforesaid, and Section No. 42, Block VII, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, to a public road; thence by that road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section No. 85, North-east Valley Survey District; thence across the said road and by Section No. 85 aforesaid to the road at its south-western corner; thence by that road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section No. 84, North-east Valley Survey District; thence across the said road, by Section No. 84 aforesaid, and the production of the south-western boundary of that section to Section No. 2 of 4, Block IX, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, and thence by the last-mentioned section to Section No. 2 of 5; thence towards the south-east by a right line to Trig. Station E in Block IX, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District; thence by a right line to the southernmost corner of Section No. 51, Block IX aforesaid; thence towards the south-west generally by Section No. 52 to Pelichet Bay; thence by Pelichet Bay to the Town Belt of Dunedin; thence by the said Town Belt and Sections Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 4, Block VIII, Upper Kaikorai Survey District, to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Section No. 5, Block X, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District; thence again towards the north-west by a right line to the south-western corner of the last-mentioned section, and by that section to its south-eastern corner; and thence towards the west generally by the said Section No. 5, Sections Nos. 69 and 67, Block XI, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, across a road, by Section No. 68, Block XI aforesaid, and the north-eastern boundary of that section produced to the place of commencement.

LEITH WARD.

Leith Ward comprises all that portion of the City of Dunedin and Town Belt of Dunedin bounded towards the north-east by Blocks IX and X, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District and North-east Valley Survey District; towards the east generally by Block IX, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District and Otago Harbour; towards the south generally by right lines from Otago Harbour along centre of Frederick Street, part of Pitt Street, Elder Street, and Argyle Street, and produced across the Town Belt; and towards the west generally by Blocks I and VIII, Upper Kaikorai Survey District.

BELL WARD.

Bell Ward comprises all that portion of the City of Dunedin and Town Belt of Dunedin bounded towards the north-east generally by Leith Ward hereinbefore described; towards the south-east by Otago Harbour; towards the south generally by right lines from Otago Harbour along centre of Stuart Street, part of York Place, and part of Rattray Street, and produced across the Town Belt; and towards the west generally by Blocks I and IV, Upper Kaikorai Survey District.
