The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 28. The number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil. I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice.
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Huntly Town District taken on the 28th day of September, 1910, on the proposal of the Huntly Town Board to borrow the sum of £4,500 for the purpose of installing an electric-lighting scheme in Huntly Township, the number of votes for the proposal was 32, and the number of votes against the proposal was 39.
I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Notice under Section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.
I HEREBY publicly notify that at the poll taken on the 26th day of September, 1910, on the proposal of the Wanganui Borough Council to borrow the sum of £6,000 for the providing of a complete system of drainage for that part of the district included in the Borough of Wanganui, by Order in Council dated the 20th day of September, 1909, published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 86 (1909), at page 2577 (hereinafter called St. John’s Hill), including in such system of drainage the laying of drainage-pipes in the streets and roads of the said area, and the providing of all appliances, plant, and things necessary or convenient for the efficient working and use of the said drainage system or incidental thereto, and the connecting of such drainage system and the drainage system now existing in the Borough of Wanganui, the following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 64; against the proposal, 4; informal, nil.
I therefore declare the proposal carried.

Explosives.
MASTERS, owners, and agents of ships arriving off the Semaphore Anchorage with explosives for Port Adelaide are hereby warned that in future no vessel having on board more than twenty-five (25) tons of explosives will be allowed to enter the Port Adelaide River until the quantity and description of explosives on board has been ascertained and reported upon to the President by the Board’s Inspector, whereupon such action will be taken as may be deemed expedient to insure the public interest and safety.

Explosives.
REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 15 of 1910, masters of vessels, pilots, and others are hereby informed that a buoy, with perch and ball painted white, has been moored four and a quarter (4¼) miles north-westerly from the entrance to the Port Adelaide River in five and a half (5½) fathoms L.W.S. to mark the distance—viz., a radius of eight (8) nautical miles from the Custom House—within which vessels carrying explosives exceeding twenty-five (25) tons in weight may not approach the port.
Approximate position of buoy: Lat. 34° 45½′ S., long. 138° 23¾′ E.
This affects Admiralty Charts 2389B and 1752.

Alteration in Column.
It is hereby notified for the information of mariners that, from and after the 1st February, 1911, to enable the light to be easily located during the day, the existing plain “masonry tower” of the Pulicat Lighthouse, bearing 13° 25′ N. long. and 80° 20′ E. lat. will be altered to a “masonry column with four alternate bands of white and black, white at the top.”

NELSON HARBOUR.—DREDGING.
Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 3rd October, 1910.
THE Nelson Harbour Board has notified that until further notice the Board’s dredge will be employed dredging in the channel through the inner mud-bank. A red flag will be hoisted on the staff on the side on which vessels are required to pass, and masters of vessels are warned that they must go slow when passing the dredge.
