BY-LAW OF THE OXFORD ROAD BOARD.

By-law No. 2, 1910.

In respect of the lighting and driving of vehicles.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in them by the Counties Act, 1908, and the Road Boards Act, 1908, and of all enabling powers, provisions, and authorities contained in any other Acts, or otherwise, the Oxford Road Board, acting on behalf of the inhabitants of the Oxford Road District, makes and ordains, by way of special order, the following by-law :-

  1. The short title of this by-law shall be By-law No. 2, 1910.

  2. From and after the date upon which this by-law comes into operation no person shall drive any vehicle, other than a springless wagon, cart, or dray, along any street or road in the Oxford Road District between sunset and sunrise unless such vehicle shall carry two lights in front, or, in the case of bicycles, one light in front. All springless wagons, carts, or drays shall during such interval proceed at a walking-pace only.

  3. Any person committing a breach of this by-law shall be liable to a penalty the amount of which shall be at the discretion of the Court inflicting the same.

  4. This by-law shall come into operation when it has been gazetted.

The resolution to make this by-law was passed by the Oxford Road Board at a special meeting of the Board held on the 14th day of July, 1910, which resolution was confirmed at a subsequent meeting held on the 22nd day of September, 1910.

The common seal of the inhabitants of the Oxford Road District was affixed to this special order on the 22nd day of September, 1910.

SUBSCRIPTIONS.—The subscription is at the rate of 33s. per annum, including postage, PAYABLE IN ADVANCE. A less period than three months cannot be subscribed for.

Single copies of the Gazette, 6d. each.

Advertisements are charged at the rate of 6d. per line for the first insertion, and 3d. per line for the second and any subsequent insertion.

Statements under the Mining Act are uniformly charged 23s.

All advertisements should be written on one side of the paper, and signatures, &c., should be written in a legible hand.

The number of insertions required must be written across the face of the advertisement.

The New Zealand Gazette is published on Thursday evening in each week, and notices for insertion must be received by the Government Printer before 3 o’clock of the day preceding publication.

Communications should be addressed to the Government Printer, Wellington, to whom post-office money-orders should be made payable. Cheques should be crossed “Public a/c,” and exchange added.

Postage or duty stamps cannot be received in payment from any place at which postal notes or post-office orders are issued.

Prepayment may be demanded in any case. In order to prevent delay in publication, a sufficient remittance should accompany every advertisement. Any surplus will be returned with receipted account.
