Opening Lands in Hawke’s Bay Land District for Sale or Selection.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Thursday, the tenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and ten; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

WAIPAWA COUNTY.—MAKARETU SURVEY DISTRICT.

Situated about six miles by road from Ashley-Clinton and Makaretu, and fourteen miles from Takapau. High, broken pastoral country, consisting of fairly steep ridges and gullies. Altitude, from 1,200 ft. to 1,800 ft. above sea-level. Soil light; well watered. This section is cleared and sown in English grass, except about 100 acres of bush, which the fire has been through, in the south-west portion of the section.

Situated six miles and a half by road from Ashley-Clinton and Makaretu, and fourteen miles and a half from Takapau. High, broken pastoral country. Altitude, from 1,400 ft. to 2,550 ft. Soil light; well watered. All in bush, consisting principally of red-birch, together with rimu and a few white-pine.

Situated about six miles by road from Ashley-Clinton and Makaretu, and fourteen miles from Takapau. High, broken pastoral country. Altitude, from 1,500 ft. to 2,800 ft. About 200 acres in the south-east corner and about 40 acres in the north-east corner are in grass; the balance of the section is in bush, principally red-birch and rimu. Soil is fair to good; well watered. A fire has been through about half of the bush.

Situated about five miles by road from Ashley-Clinton and thirteen miles from Takapau. High, broken pastoral country. Altitude, 1,600 ft. to 2,850 ft. Two hundred and eighty acres in bush, which has been swept by fire; the bush consists principally of red-birch and rimu; the balance is in English grass and “pig fern”; a good deal of piripiri is growing on this section. Soil fair to good; well watered. The Hawke’s Bay Rabbit Board has the right to remove the whare situated on the section.

WAIPAWA COUNTY.—WAKARARA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Situated about five miles from Wakarara Post-office, and about eighteen miles from Onga Onga. Hilly pastoral country. Altitude from 1,700 to 2,275 ft. All in bush, consisting principally of red-birch and rimu. Soil good; well watered.

Situated about five miles by road from Wakarara and eighteen miles from Onga Onga. High, broken pastoral country; all in bush, consisting principally of red-birch and rimu, with a few white-pine. Good soil; well watered.

Situated about seven miles by road from Wakarara, and about twenty miles from Onga Onga. High, broken pastoral country; all in bush, consisting principally of red-birch and rimu. Altitude, from 2,000 ft. to 2,500 ft. Soil good; well watered. The Middle Stream, which runs through the section, is difficult to cross. There is a good flat in the south-east portion of the section.

Opening National Endowment Lands in Auckland Land District for Selection.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-fourth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and ten, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Altitude, from 500 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Access from Putaruru Village, from four to six miles distant; about three miles and a half formed road, balance surveyed but as yet unformed; comprising flat to undulating land, covered with wiwi, grass, fern, and teatree; mostly all ploughable. Soil light sandy nature. All, except Section 9, are well watered.

Land temporarily reserved for Scenic Purposes in the Wellington Land District.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Wellington Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, for scenic purposes.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 24 acres 3 roods 32 perches, more or less, being Section No. 7, Block XVI, Kaitieke Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west, north-east, and east generally by the Waimarino-Retaruke Road to the road-angle immediately opposite the north-western corner of Waimarino Railway-station yard; towards the south by Crown lands, 1457·7 links; and towards the west by Crown lands, 2147·2 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 533/1, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fifth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and ten.
