and the person so chosen shall have and may exercise at
that meeting all the powers of the Chairman.

Questions arising at any meeting shall be decided by
a majority of the votes of the members present at that
meeting. In the case of an equality of votes, the Chair-
man shall, in addition to his deliberative vote, have a
casting-vote. -
Minutes of the proceedings of the Committee shall
be recorded in a minute-book, and the minutes of any
meeting shall be read and confirmed at the next succeed-
ing meeting. -
The Committee may appoint a Secretary, who shall
be paid such remuneration as the Committee thinks fit.
The Chairman or any other member of the Committee shall
be eligible for appointment as Secretary. -
The books and records of the Committee shall be in
the custody of the Secretary, or of the Chairman if no
Secretary has been appointed. -
The Committee may appoint any place it thinks fit
as the office of the Committee, and may from time to time
remove such office to some other place. -
A copy of the minutes of every meeting of the Com-
mittee shall be forwarded by the Chairman to the Native
Minister. -
(1.) The Committee shall have a seal upon which the
name of the Committee, either in Maori or English, shall
be engraved or impressed in legible characters.
(2.) The seal shall be kept in the custody of the Secre-
tary of the Committee, or of the Chairman if no Secretary
has been appointed.
(3.) The seal shall be used for sealing documents which
require to be sealed.
(4.) The seal shall not be affixed to any document except
in the presence of the Chairman and at least two other
members of the Committee, and they shall attest the seal-
ing of the document.
- The consent of the General Committee for the pur-
poses of the Urewera District Native Reserve Amendment
Act, 1909, shall be by resolution passed at a meeting of
the Committee, and shall be given in writing under the
seal of the Committee.

Black Swans to cease to be Native Game in Southland.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-
Poynder, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
do hereby declare that, from and after the date hereof,
black swans (Cygnus atratus) shall cease to be within the
operation of the said Act within the Southland Acclimati-
sation District.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this sixth day of September, one thousand nine
hundred and ten.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of Portion of a
Reserve in the Hawke's Bay Land District.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
WHEREAS by the Public Reserves and Domains
Act, 1908, it is, amongst other things, enacted that
the Governor may declare his intention to change, exchange,
or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter
vested in His Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes
named in Class II of the Second Schedule to the said Act,
whether the same be granted or not; and in the case of any
reserve made under the authority of section three hundred
and twenty-one of the Land Act, 1908, if it shall, in the
opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose
of such reserve or any part thereof from the purpose or
presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other
purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be
expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in such
reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one
or more purposes named in the said Class II, the Governor
may, by notice gazetted, make such change, exchange, or
dedication, as the case may be, and in such notice declare
the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be
so made:
Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron
Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and
authorities vested in me by the Public Reserves and
Domains Act, 1908, aforesaid, declare my intention to change
the specific purpose of the portion of the reserve described
in the second column of the Schedule hereto from that
named in the first column of the said Schedule to that
named in the third column of the said Schedule.
