Allowing Carriages and Rolling-stock up to 8 ft. in Width
to be used on the Invercargill and Suburban Tramway.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

WHEREAS by section two hundred and nineteen of
the Public Works Act, 1908, and subclause three
of clause twenty-three, Part III, of the Second Schedule of
the Tramways Act, 1908, it is enacted that, notwithstand-
ing anything in any Act, the Governor may allow carriages
and rolling-stock up to eight feet in width to be used on
any tramway where he is satisfied that they may be safely
and conveniently used without damage to the public: And
whereas application has been made by the Invercargill
Borough Council’s Tramway Engineer for permission to
use carriages and rolling-stock up to eight feet in width on
the Invercargill and Suburban Tramway (hereinafter called
“the said tramway”), which tramway is to be constructed
under and by virtue of the provisions of an Order in
Council dated the thirtieth day of May, one thousand nine
hundred and eight:

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder, Baron Islington, the
Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance
and in exercise of the powers vested in me by the said
Acts, and being satisfied that carriages and rolling-stock
up to eight feet in width may be safely and conveniently
used, do hereby allow carriages and rolling-stock up to
eight feet in width to be used on the said tramway on and
after the date such carriages and rolling-stock are passed
as safe and fit for traffic by an Engineer duly appointed in
that behalf by the Minister of Public Works.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this fifth day of July, one thousand nine hun-
dred and ten.

Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or
Selection.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John
Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion
of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-
Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred
and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that
the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for
sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-second day of August,
one thousand nine hundred and ten; and also that the lands
mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the appli-
cant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with
right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also
fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or
leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do
declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased
under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Altitude, from 100 ft. to 400 ft. above sea-level. Undu-
lating to broken land; about 20 acres old clearing lately
burnt off, balance mixed forest comprising puriri, taraire,
kohekohe, rimu, and a few kahikatea trees; no marketable
timber; dense undergrowth of supplejack, kiekie, toitoi, and
bush ferns. Soil of fair second-class quality, on sandstone
formation. Indifferently watered by springs. Situated four
miles from Kaitaia by good cart-road.

Altitude, 100 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to
broken land; about 300 acres mixed forest, comprising
puriri, taraire, kohekohe, miro, rimu, and scattered kahi-
katea and totara, with dense undergrowth of nikau and
bush ferns; balance fern and dead forest. Soil of fair
second-class quality, on sandstone formation. Fairly well
watered. Fronts Takahue—Herekino Road, distant about
four miles from Herekino by fair formed road.

this fifth day of July, one thousand nine hun-
dred and ten.

Altitude, 1,000 ft. to 1,350 ft. above sea-level. Undulating
land, with level patches on ridges; about 50 acres overrun
by fires, balance covered with mixed forest, comprising tawa,
miro, rata, rimu, taraire, and towai; undergrowth of kie-
kic, toitoi, supplejack, and ferns. Soil loam and clay of fair
quality, on sandstone formation. Watered by small stream.
Situated about sixteen miles from Kaihu Railway-station
by dray-road.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this fifth day of July, one thousand nine hun-
dred and ten.
