of the dynamo being adjustable in accordance with the adjustment of the rheostat, substantially as and for the purpose described. . . . (4.) In electric lighting and other systems for railway and other vehicles, such systems comprising a governor-operated switch and pole-changer for the variably driven dynamo, the construction of switch and pole-changer comprising an axially slidable sleeve carrying contacts for connecting up the various circuits, the sleeve having limited revolvable motion in relation to the shaft, a governor-sleeve having only axial sliding movement upon the shaft, and springs arranged to constantly tend to press the two sleeves into engagement with one another, the one sleeve being adapted to move against a stop and into circuit-making position when the other sleeve is moved past a certain limit by the governor device in order to disengage the sleeves, substantially as described.

No. 27851.—9th June, 1910.—HENRY ARTHUR GODDARD, of Ada Street, Concord, near Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Contractor. Improvements relating to box-cores that are used in building hollow concrete walls.
Claim.—In box-cores that are used for building hollow concrete walls, constructing the box-core in two halves with a narrow space or interstice between the two halves, such space or interstice being maintained by any suitable appliances such as wedges or thickness-pieces such as C, and a metal fillet or cover-plate such as G attached to the end or ends of one half of the box, such cover-plate being adapted to cover the interstice between the two halves of the box, as and for the purposes specified.

Claims.—(1.) In straining-appliances of the class described, the combination with the straining-hooks of a spring or springs, keeping them normally in a uniform position relatively to the lever-handle, substantially as and for the purpose described.

Extract from Specification.—The central buffers and draw-bars are duplicated, one buffer and draw-bar being placed immediately above the other. The bars are mounted in bearings which enable them to slide a short distance backwards or forwards horizontally, and provision is made for a buffer-spring or draw-spring or rubber in a suitably arranged spring-box. In addition to the duplicated draw-bars, mechanism is provided comprising certain levers and rods which transmit the movement of the buffers to the brake-blocks of the vehicle.

Extract from Specification.—A clamp is made of spring-wire doubled upon itself near the middle and bent into a loop of approximately rectangular shape. The ends of the wire are bent into hooks which engage in an eye formed by the first bend in the wire.

Claims.—(1.) Indicating-apparatus of the kind described, consisting of an electric battery, and a transmitter comprising pallets and an operating-handle, a star-wheel and hand operable by the pallets, notifications arranged in a circle over which the hand travels, a terminal adapted to contact with the pallets, a receiver comprising an electro-magnet and pivoted armature, pallets operable by the armature, a star-wheel corresponding to the star-wheel of the transmitter, a drum mounted on the spindle of the second star-wheel, notifications displayed on the drum in a rotation corresponding to the rotation of the notifications on the transmitter, and wires closing the electric circuit of the battery, substantially as set forth.

In furnaces, an air-bridge the bars of which are formed at the lower ends with comparatively long spacing-nibs formed with inclined shoulders. . . . (5.) In furnaces, an air-bridge the bars of which are formed at the lower ends with a V-shaped recess, and a base-plate formed with a correspondingly shaped bar adapted to engage with said recesses.
