whereas the Christchurch City Council has certified that
the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of
the occupiers of all the hairdressers’ and tobacconists’
shops in the City of Christchurch :

Now, therefore, I, John Andrew Millar, Minister of
Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1908, do hereby direct that, from and after the 4th
day of July, 1910, all hairdressers’ shops and tobacconists’
shops, combined and separately, in the City of Christ-
church shall be closed in accordance with such requisition,
excepting during the Christchurch Carnival and Show
Week, in November, when the hours shall be 9 p.m. on
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday ; 10.30 p.m. on Satur-
day ; 1 p.m. on the day observed as the half-holiday ; and
10 p.m. on the other working-days.

Notice of the Taking and Laying-off of Road in Block X,
Puniu Survey District.


NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excel-
lency the Administrator of the Government of the
Dominion of New Zealand, under the authority of section 93
of the Public Works Act, 1908, that the road described in
the Schedule hereto was, on the 10th day of May, 1910, duly
taken and laid off through the land specified in the said
Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said
Dominion, by Warrant dated the 18th day of January, 1910.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Mangahao Survey District for Scenery-preservation Purposes.


NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, and
the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, to take for scenery-
preservation purposes the land described in the Schedule
hereto. And notice is hereby further given that the plan
of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-
office at Pahiatua, and is there open for inspection ; and
that all persons affected by the taking of the said land
should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the
taking thereof, set forth the same in writing, and send such
writing, within forty days from the first publication of this
notice, to the Minister of Public Works, Wellington.
