In the matter of the Town Boards Act, 1908, and the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 18th day of June, 1910, a proposal was submitted by the Bay Town Board to the ratepayers of the Bay Town District for raising a special loan of £6,000 for the purpose of carrying out a scheme of water-supply for the town district, and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal were as follows: For, 191; against, 117.

And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

Authorising the Laying-off of Canterbury Street, in the Town of Hornby Extension No. 1, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I, Joseph George Ward, Minister of Lands, do hereby authorise the laying-off of Canterbury Street, in the Town of Hornby Extension No. 1, Canterbury Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft., instead of 99 ft.

Notifying Land in the Canterbury Land District subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1908.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and its amendments, I hereby notify that the undermentioned Crown land, being the land known as the Hornby Settlement, which has been acquired under the said Acts, is subject to the said Acts as from the 2nd May, 1910.


SCHEDULE.

HORNBY SETTLEMENT.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 75 acres and 26 perches, more or less, being Rural Sections 1047 and 1199, Block XIII, Christchurch Survey District, being all that land comprised in Application No. 11154, District Land Registry Office, at Christchurch; as the same is delineated on plan marked L. and S. No. 19410, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, and thereon bordered red.

Notice is hereby given that heavy breakers have been reported to exist in lat. 33°57 south, long. 122°41 east, also in lat. 34°1 S., long. 120°44 E.

Chart affected: No. 1059, Doubtful Island Bay to Great Australian Bight.

Notice to Mariners No. 66 of 1910.


GREAT BARRIER ISLAND.—BEACONS ERECTED AT WHANGAPARAPARA HEADS.

NOTICE is hereby given that two wooden beacons have been erected at Whangaparapara Heads, Great Barrier Island—one on the north and the other on the south side of the entrance. Both beacons are triangular in shape, with a diamond-shaped surmount. They are 32 ft. in height, open boarded, and painted white.

Notice to Mariners No. 67 of 1910.


NAPIER HARBOUR.—GLASGOW WHARF LIGHT.

Wellington, N.Z., 21st June, 1910.

THE Napier Harbour Board has notified: (1.) That a fixed orange light is now exhibited on outer end of Glasgow Wharf, which has been extended about 270 ft. N. 16° W. from the position of the green light on its previous extreme. (2.) The rock 1 cable N. 25° W. from the green light on Glasgow Wharf has been removed, and the depth in the position is 26 ft., in place of 23 ft. as now charted.

The breakwater is completed to about 300 ft. beyond the point marked “Completed” to the point (June, 1906).

Notice to Mariners No. 68 of 1910.


KAIPARA HARBOUR, WEST COAST OF NORTH ISLAND.—CHANGE OF CHANNEL AND BUOYS IN WAIROA RIVER.

Wellington, N.Z., 23rd June, 1910.

NOTICE is hereby given that the main channel (locally known as the Five-fathom Channel), in the Wairoa River, north of Pouto Point, is undergoing frequent changes from the sand-banks, which are constantly shifting downwards, and it is therefore recommended that the use of this channel be discontinued. The inside channel has now been buoyed with five red buoys on the east side; on the west side there is deep water close to the shore, with the one exception of the shoal north of Tauhara Point, which is now of considerably less extent than is shown on the latest chart. The buoys in the main or five-fathom channel will be removed on or about the 1st September next, and a red buoy will then be placed in the vicinity of the first black buoy at present marking the entrance to that channel.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Hairdressers’ and Tobacconists’ Shops in the City of Christchurch under the Shops and Offices Act.


WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops carrying on the business of hairdressers, tobacconists, and hairdressers and tobacconists in the City of Christchurch, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the city shall be closed on four days of each week, viz.: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8 p.m.; on Thursdays at 1 p.m.; and on Saturdays at 10.30 p.m.; with the following exceptions, viz.: that during the Christchurch Carnival and Show Week, in November, the hours shall be 9 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday; 10 p.m. on Thursday; 1 p.m. Friday; and 10.30 p.m. on Saturday; Christmas Eve at 12 midnight; New Year’s Eve at 12 midnight; and at 9 p.m. on any night previous to a full holiday awarded by the Arbitration Court: And
