authority, or what local authority should do the work)
may direct any Magistrate or other person to be a Com-
missioner to inquire into and report to him on the matter :
And whereas a Commissioner was appointed, and an
inquiry was duly held, in the manner provided by the said
Act, in respect to the said work, and in respect also to the
apportionment of the cost of constructing the said work :
And whereas such Commissioner did report to the
Governor, after due inquiry, his opinion as to the matters
respecting which he was appointed to report :
And whereas I am of opinion that the work should be
done, and it is expedient to make provision under the said
Act for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter set
forth :
Now, therefore, I, Robert Stout, the Administrator of
the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, in
pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in me by
the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in
anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby authorise
the Ashley Road Board to execute the said work; and I
do hereby declare that the cost thereof, less such contri-
bution as may be made thereto (if any) by the Government
of New Zealand, shall be borne by the Ashley, Kowai,
and Rangiora and Mandeville Road Boards, and the
Rangiora Borough Council in the following proportions,
viz. : The Ashley Road Board to bear thirty-two and a
half per cent of such cost, the Kowai Road Board to bear
thirty-two and a half per cent. of such cost, the Rangiora
Borough Council to bear twenty-five per cent. of such cost,
and the Rangiora and Mandeville Road Board to bear ten
per cent. of such cost respectively.
And I do hereby also further direct that any contribu-
tion hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the Kowai
Road Board, the Rangiora Borough Council, or the Rangi-
ora and Mandeville Road Board shall be paid from time
to time respectively in the proportion hereinbefore pre-
scribed out of the funds of the said Boards or Council,
within a period of thirty days after demand in writing
made by or on behalf of the Ashley Road Board, and all
such payments shall be made from time to time to the
Clerk of the said Road Board for and on account of such
Road Boards and Borough Council.

SCHEDULE.

THAT bridge over the Ashley River, together with the
approaches thereto, situated at the end of Cone’s Road,
about 45 chains west of the boundary between Ashley and
Kowai Road Districts; as the site of the said bridge,
together with the approaches, is more particularly de-
lineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 26698, deposited in
the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington,
in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon shown
in purple colour.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Ad-
ministrator of the Government, this twenty-
second day of June, one thousand nine hundred
and ten.
