Office, Auckland, from the proprietors of existing sawmills and logging contractors, up till 12 o’clock noon on Monday, 7th February, 1910, for the purchase of the kauri timber standing on the undermentioned lot.
SCHEDULE.
COROMANDEL COUNTY.
Crown Land, part Blocks VIII, Harataunga Survey District, and I, Coromandel Survey District (Paparoa Watershed).
191 KAURI-TREES, containing (approximately) 311,630 sup. ft. (standing measurement).
Distinguishing brand, Λ↑F.
Time for removal: One year.
Upset price, 1s. 6d. per 100 sup. ft.
9 defective trees branded F.R. not included in this sale, for which an application from the successful tenderer will be considered.
CONDITIONS.
- Intending tenderers are expected to visit the locality and to satisfy themselves in every particular on all matters relating to their tender.
- The aforementioned quantities, qualities, and kind as to the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purpose of this sale; and no contract for purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the successful tenderer be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, and kind than as stated herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber, nor shall any extra sum be claimed by the Crown if for any reason the quantity of timber is found to be in excess of that stated herein.
- No tender will be considered wherein a less royalty is offered than the upset price of 1s. 6d. per 100 sup. ft.
- Should any dispute arise as to the boundaries, the decision of the Commissioner of Crown Lands shall be final.
- In the event of the above lot not being disposed of, applications may be received and dealt with at any time within six months from the above date of closing of tenders (unless previously formally withdrawn), provided, however, that the amount offered is not less than the upset price stated herein.
- Tenders must be submitted on forms which will be supplied on application to the Postmaster, Coromandel, or the above office, and envelopes enclosing same to be marked “Tender for Timber,” and addressed to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Auckland.
- The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
TERMS.
Separate tenders for the various lots of timber must be accompanied by a deposit of 5 per cent. on the amount of the tender, in cash, marked cheque, or post-office order; the balance to be paid, if tender accepted, within fourteen days after acceptance, together with the timber-cutting license fee of £1 1s.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for selection on renewable lease, and applications will be received at this office, the local Lands Office, Gisborne, and the Courthouse, Wairoa, on Wednesday, the 2nd day of March, 1910, up to 4 o’clock p.m., under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908,” and “The Land for Settlements Act, 1908.”

Hilly land, with generally a fairly steep southerly aspect. About 215 acres covered with virgin bush, the principal timber of any value being tawa; remainder covered with thick fern and patches of small manuka. About 30 acres between Kahauroa Stream and road is practically level, about 25 acres being ploughable, and provides a suitable homestead-site. A well-distributed water-supply from Kahauroa Stream and branches. Wairoa is nine miles and a quarter distant by almost level formed road. The improvements, included in the price of the land, comprise fencing valued at £15.

Hilly land, with a fairly steep southerly aspect. About 300 acres covered in bush, containing a good supply of tawa; remainder carries thick fern. About 25 acres between Kahauroa Stream and road is practically flat, 20 acres being ploughable. Well watered by Kahauroa Stream and branches. Distant from Wairoa ten miles and a quarter by almost level formed land. The improvements, included in the price of the land, comprise fencing valued at £20 15s.

Hilly land, with exception of about 50 acres of practically level ploughable ground between Maromauku Road and stream, but carrying a good deal of high manuka. About 10 acres of bush, from which a good supply of firewood may be obtained. The section is covered generally by light patchy fern, and carries some tough pasture. Well and permanently watered by Kahauroa and Maromauku Streams and branches. Distant from Wairoa nine miles and a half by almost level formed road. The improvements, included in the price of the land, comprise fencing valued at £32 9s. 6d.

Hilly; portion on north side of road has fairly steep southerly aspect; the remainder consists of easy spurs running generally from north-west to south-east. The patches of bush amount to about 260 acres, and ensure a bountiful supply of firewood; the remainder consists of heavy fern, intermixed with tutu, on the eastern portion; small amounts of rough pasture. Permanently watered by Kahauroa Stream and branches. Distant from Wairoa ten miles and a half by almost level formed road. The improvements, which are included in the price of the land, comprise fencing valued at £27 5s.

Hilly, but all parts of section accessible by easy-leading spurs. The portion east of the fence running through the section carries about 140 acres of bush, the principal large timber being tawa; the remainder of the portion east of fence is covered with thick high fern intermixed with tutu. On the portion west of fence the fern is small and patchy, and carries a small amount of rough pasture. Well watered by Kahauroa Stream and Maromauku Stream. Distant from Wairoa about ten miles and a half by almost level road, one mile being at present unformed. The improvements, included in the price of the land, comprise fencing valued at £48 13s. 6d.

About 30 acres along the stream running through the section consists of raupo swamp. Distant from Wairoa about ten miles and three-quarters by almost level road, 95 chains being unformed. The improvements, included in the price of the land, comprise fencing valued at £45 6s.

Mostly hilly, except about 50 acres of good ploughable flat along Haikete Stream. Almost clear of fern, and carrying rough pasture. Remainder of section is covered more or less with fern, and also carries rough pasture. A fair homestead-site may be obtained beside the Maromauku Road. Watered on the west by the Haikete Stream, and on the east by branches of the Maromauku Stream. Distant from Wairoa nine miles and three-quarters by almost level road, 20 chains being at present unformed. The improvements, included in the price of the land, comprise fencing, shed, and sheeypards, valued at £83 17s. 6d.

About 75 acres of flat land, some of which requires draining, the remainder low hills of which a large proportion is ploughable. Fairly well grassed, although carrying a good deal of fern. A little totara will be found. Watered by the Ruiohangi Stream. Distant nine miles from Wairoa. The improvements, included in the price of the land, comprise fencing and whare valued at £55 16s.
