BOROUGH OF GISBORNE.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan of £175,000.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and in the matter of the proposal of the Council of the Borough of Gisborne to raise a special loan of £175,000 for the undermentioned purposes:—

A sewerage scheme .. .. .. £60,500
For a loan for temporary advances for house services and fittings .. .. .. 10,000
For electric-light and power scheme .. .. 16,142
For a bridge across Waimata River .. .. 4,950
For a tramway system .. .. .. 25,000
For street-formation and metalling (including machinery, £4,750) .. .. .. 35,000
For recreation-grounds, &c. .. .. .. 6,500
For waterworks reservoir and reticulation .. 11,000
First year’s interest payable out of loan .. 5,908

£175,000

The sum proposed to be borrowed for the above purposes is £175,000, the proposed security for and provision for repayment of the loan being a special rate of 1s. 7d. in the pound upon the annual rateable value of all rateable property within the Borough of Gisborne; also a sinking fund of ½ per centum (ten shillings) per annum out of such special rate being set aside towards repayment of the loan. The preliminary expenses and first year’s interest to be paid out of the loan.

I hereby give notice that on Monday, the 20th day of December, 1909, a poll of the electors of the Borough of Gisborne (being ratepayers and freeholders) was taken upon the proposal of the said Council of the said borough, in pursuance of the powers and provisions contained in the said Acts, and all other powers enabling it in that behalf, and at the said poll the resolution in favour of such proposal was duly carried, 861 votes being recorded in favour of the proposal, and 279 against; informal, 14.

I therefore declare the poll to be duly carried.

BOROUGH OF HOKITIKA.

Result of Poll.

I HEREBY give notice that the number of votes recorded upon the taking of the poll on the 21st instant, for and against the proposal of the Hokitika Borough Council to borrow (by way of special loan within the meaning of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and its amendments) the sum of £2,000 for the purpose of completing the water and drainage works and for extra reticulation, was as follows: For the proposal, 78; against the proposal, 23; informal, 1.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of “The Land Act, 1908,” I, Joseph George Ward, Minister of Lands, do hereby authorise the laying-off of McDonald, Ethel, Collins, and Shaw Streets, in the Town of Morningside Extension No. 4, Auckland Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft. each, instead of 99 ft.
