And whereas it is expedient that such land shall be appropriated for a site for a roadman’s hut and office, being a reserve within the said Class I:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of “The Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908,” doth hereby declare that the said land shall, from and after the date hereof, be appropriated for a site for a roadman’s hut and office under Class I of “The Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908.”

SCHEDULE.
All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 roods 7 perches, more or less, being part of Section No. 21, Block V, Tiri-raukawa Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west and north-east by Section No. 2, Block V, Tiri-raukawa Survey District; towards the south-east by the Turakina Valley Road; and towards the south-west by Section No. 3 of the said Block V: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 5249/1b, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Giving to the Department of Tourist and Health Resorts the Powers of the Maori Council within certain Portions of the Town of Rotorua.

PLUNKET, Governor.
In exercise of the powers conferred by subsection two of section four of “The Rotorua Town Act, 1907,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby direct that the Department of Tourist and Health Resorts in its corporate capacity, in respect of the Town of Rotorua, shall have and may exercise within Tarewa and other Native reserves or holdings, and in the Villages of Ohinemutu and Whakarewarewa, included within the boundaries of the said town, all the powers now possessed by the Maori Council.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-eighth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

PLUNKET, Governor.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on Wednesday, the fourteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nine; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on renewable lease only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metals, minerals, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

The greater part of the section is flat and undulating; about 50 acres steep along Omanawa Stream; all covered with heavy mixed forest, comprising rimu, rata, tawa, pukatea, hinau, and miro, with heavy undergrowth; rimu too scattered to be of commercial value; soil of good quality, on volcanic-cement formation; well watered. Situated about four miles and a half from Ngawaro Post-office two miles by main coach-road, balance bridle-track, formed 5 ft. wide.
