Harbour, New Britain, has disappeared. This information is said to have been reported by other masters. The disappearance was evidently caused by volcanic action.

NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN.
CAROLINE ISLANDS. — PONAPI ISLAND. — HYDROGRAPHIC INFORMATION.—The commanding officer of the German man-of-war “Jaguar” reports that the following-named islands off the south coast of Ponapi Island, Caroline Islands, have been washed away:—
Narmaur Island, shown on the chart in (approximately) latitude 6° 47′ 00″ N., longitude 158° 12′ 30″ E.
Natik Islands, shown on the chart in (approximately) latitude 6° 46′ 30″ N., longitude 158° 15′ 36″ E.
Nalapen Islands, shown on the chart in (approximately) latitude 6° 45′ 54″ N., longitude 158° 20′ 30″ E.
In these positions a large number of rocks are visible at low water.
Also that a shoal-head, with a depth of 5 ft. over it, exists in the middle of the channel into Kiti Harbour, 55 yards outside the shoal in the narrow passage, marked ⅔ fathom. The outer of these shoals has a light-blue colour, and is easily recognised, while the inner one is difficult to make out.
The position of the outer shoal will be marked P.D. on the charts.

CAROLINE ISLANDS. — TRUK ATOLL.—HYDROGRAPHIC INFORMATION.—The commander of the German man-of-war “Jaguar” reports that the island shown on the chart on the northern edge of Truk Atoll, Caroline Islands, in (approximately) latitude 7° 41′ 30″ N., longitude 151° 50′ 00″ E., has been washed away.
Also that Nord Island, shown in (approximately) latitude 7° 36′ 30″ N., longitude 151° 57′ 45″ E., has been divided into two parts.

CHINA SEA.
BANKA ISLAND.—NORTH-EAST COAST.—SHOAL REPORTED.—The master of the Netherlands steamer “van Authoven” reports the existence of a shoal with an estimated depth of 2 fathoms over it, marked by discoloration, eastward of Grasak Point, north-eastern coast of Banka Island, in (approximately) latitude 1° 29′ 45″ S., longitude 105° 56′ 30″ E.
A further examination of this shoal will be made.

BANKA ISLAND.—NORTH-EAST COAST.—SHOAL.—FURTHER INFORMATION.—LIGHT-BUOY MOVED.—Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 29 (1563) of 1909, the Netherlands Government has given further information that the shoal reported off Banka Island, China Sea, in (approximately) latitude 2° 00′ 12″ S., longitude 106° 15′ 26″ E., is a coral reef, about 275 yards in diameter, with a least depth of about 6 ft. over it.
Also that the white light-buoy moored off the south-western side of Sullivan Rocks has been moved about 2,750 yards S. 89° E. from its former position.
Further notice will be given.

CHINA.
HONG KONG HARBOUR. — KOWLOON PENINSULA.—CHIN-SALCHUI POINT. — INTENDED LIGHT. — CUST ROCK. — GAS BUOY ESTABLISHED.—Information has been received from the Harbourmaster at Hong Kong that a sixth order flashing red light, with a flashing white sector, showing 1 group of 3 flashes every 10 seconds—thus, flash 1 second, eclipsed 1 second, flash 1 second, eclipsed 1 second, flash 1 second, eclipsed 5 seconds—will shortly be established on Chinsalchui Point, Kowloon Peninsula, Hong Kong Harbour.
The light will be exhibited 141 ft. above mean sea-level from a red brick tower above the roof of the signalman’s quarters on the summit of the hill behind the point, and will show white over an arc of 8° between the bearings S. 81° W. and S. 89° W.
On the same date a fixed red automatic light will be exhibited from the buoy marking Cust Rock, located 950 yards N. 75° E. from the above light.
Approx. position of light: Lat. 22° 17′ 50″ N., long. 114° 10′ 28″ E.

YANGTZE RIVER. — TSUNGMING CROSSING.—CHANGE IN BUOYAGE.—Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 29 (1580) of 1909, the Chinese Government have given further notice that the following changes in the buoyage of Tsungming Crossing, Yangtze River, China, have been made:—
First crossing-buoy has been moved about 400 yards S. 37° W., and re-established in 30 ft. of water 2½ miles N. 36° E. from quarantine beacon.
Second crossing-buoy has been replaced by a gas buoy, which is moored in 18 ft. of water 1·4 miles N. 4° E. from quarantine beacon.
West Spit buoy has been discontinued.
Quarantine upper buoy has been changed in colour from red to red and black in vertical stripes, and is now moored in 36 ft. of water 1·2 miles S. 62° W. from quarantine beacon.

CEYLON.
COLOMBO HARBOUR. — CLOCK-TOWER LIGHT. — SECTORS CHANGED.—Information dated 14th May, 1909, has been received that the sectors of the clock-tower light at Colombo, Ceylon, have been changed, and that the light now shows as follows:—
Two flashes over an arc of 26° from S. 44° W. to S. 18° W.; 1 flash over an arc of 6° from S. 18° W. to S. 12° W.; 2 flashes over an arc of 8° from S. 12° W. to S. 4° W.; 3 flashes from S. 4° W. through south, east, and north to the land southward of the harbour.
Approx. position: Lat. 6° 56′ 21″ N., long. 79° 50′ 34″ E.

VALPARAISO BAY.—FORT TALCAHUANO.—WIRELESS TELEGRAPH STATION ESTABLISHED. — The Chilean Government has given notice that a wireless telegraph station has been established at Fort Talcahuano, Valparaiso Bay, Chile, ¼ mile west from Anjeles Point Lighthouse.
The station is in operation night and day, and has a communicating radius of 250 miles, with wave-length of 400 meters.
Its call-letters are W F T.
Approx. position: Lat. 33° 01′ 01″ S., long. 71° 39′ 30″ W.

CALIFORNIA.
SAN DIEGO BAY ENTRANCE.—GAS BUOY TO BE ESTABLISHED.—About 8th August, 1909, a black gas buoy, marked 3 S.D. in white, and showing an intermittent white light every 20 seconds—thus, light 10 seconds, eclipsed 10 seconds—will be established at the entrance to San Diego Harbour, California, in place of San Diego Bar outer buoy No. 3, a first-class can, which will then be discontinued.
