Land taken for Street Purposes in the City of Dunedin.

A P R O C L A M A T I O N.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1908,” for a certain work, to wit, for street purposes in the City of Dunedin:

And whereas the Council of the City of Dunedin has laid before the Governor a memorial, accompanied by a map, and also the statutory declaration, as required by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908,” and “The Public Works Act, 1908,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for street purposes in the City of Dunedin, and shall vest in the Corporation of the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Dunedin.

Appointing Judge and Chief Judge of Cook Islands Land Titles Court.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this tenth day of August, 1909.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE GEORGE FOWLDS PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by “The Cook Islands Government Act, 1908,” and of every other power and authority enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby appoint

JAMES EMAN SMITH, Esquire,

to be a Judge of the Cook Islands Land Titles Court, and also to be the Chief Judge thereof.

And in further pursuance of the like power and authority and with the like advice and consent, His Excellency the Governor doth hereby order and declare that the said appointment shall be held during pleasure, and shall take effect on and from the nineteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

Amended Regulations under Part III of “The Civil Service Act, 1908.”—Officers’ Guarantee.

PLUNKET, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this second day of August, 1909.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE J. A. MILLAR PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by section twenty-four of “The Civil Service Act, 1908” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend the regulations made under “The Civil Service Officers’ Guarantee Act, 1893,” by an Order in Council dated the fourth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, as follows:—

  1. In lieu of Regulation 2 made under the said Order in Council the following regulation is hereby substituted:—

CHAIRMAN ELECTED ANNUALLY.

(2.) The Board shall annually in the month of January assemble and elect one of their number to be Chairman, who shall hold office until the next annual election: Provided that the annual meeting for the year 1909 and the election of a Chairman for such year shall be held in the month of August in the present year, and such Chairman shall hold office in accordance with these regulations.

Should any Chairman resign, die, or be removed from the Civil Service at any other period of a year, the Board shall forthwith elect one of their number to be Chairman, who shall hold office till the next annual election.

  1. In lieu of Regulation 8 made under the said Order in Council the following regulation is hereby substituted:—

ROLL OF ASSURERS.

(8.) The Chairman shall immediately after the 31st December in every year cause a roll to be prepared, in such form as shall be determined by the Board, setting forth the names of all officers assured, the office or offices held by each, and the amount for which each officer is guaranteed; and the roll so prepared shall be signed by the Chairman and by one member of the Board. The said roll is hereinafter referred to as “the roll of assurers”:

Provided that the roll of assurers for the year 1909 may be made in the month of August in the present year, or as soon thereafter as conveniently may be.
