Revocation of Appointment of Bonding Warehouse.
CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the authority in me for this purpose vested, I, the Minister of Customs, do by this order under my hand revoke and annul the appointment of the undermentioned warehouse for the reception and security of goods entered to be warehoused without payment of duty upon the first entry thereof, namely:—
Port of Bluff Harbour.
The warehouse known as
Thomson’s Bond,
as appointed and described in Minister’s Order No. 806, of the 23rd day of June, 1906.
Given under my hand, at Wellington, this twenty-second day of June, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

Special Books in Languages and Literature for Class C Certificate and Civil Service Senior Examinations, 1910 and 1911.

IN pursuance of regulations under “The Education Act, 1908,” and under “The Civil Service Act, 1908,” notice is hereby given that at the examination for Class C and at the Civil Service Senior Examination of January, 1910, and of January, 1911, the special books of which a knowledge will be required will be as follows:—
ENGLISH.—1910: Thackeray, “Esmond”; Shakspeare, “Merchant of Venice”; “Julius Cæsar.” In addition a knowledge of the period of literature, 1744–1800, will be required. [Note.—In lieu of the period of literature prescribed for 1910, a knowledge of the following special books may be substituted if desired: Goldsmith, “The Vicar of Wakefield” and “The Deserted Village”; Scott, “Waverley.”] 1911: Carlyle, “Sartor Resartus”; Milton, “Samson Agonistes”; Shelley, “Prometheus Unbound.” In addition a knowledge of the period of literature, 1800–1850, will be required. [Note.—In lieu of the special books and the period of literature prescribed for 1911, a knowledge of the following special books may be substituted if desired: Shakspeare, “Macbeth” and “Twelfth Night”; Carlyle, “Heroes and Hero-Worship”; Seeley, “Expansion of England”; Emerson, “Representative Men.”]
