Exchanging a Police Reserve in the Town of Ranfurly, Otago Land District, for other Land.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of June, 1909.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto was permanently reserved for police purposes: And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to exchange the said land for that described in the second column of the Schedule hereto:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of “The Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908,” doth hereby declare that the said reserve described in the first column of the Schedule hereto is hereby exchanged for the land described in the second column of the Schedule hereto.

Bounded towards the north by Sections Nos. 3 and 4, Block XIV, Town of Ranfurly; towards the east by Dungannon Street; towards the south by Sections Nos. 10 and 9 of said Block XIV; and towards the west by Reade Street: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 58153/8, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. | All that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 4 acres, more or less, being Section No. 23, Block I, Town of Ranfurly. At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-ninth day of June, 1909.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by Part I of “The Public Service Classification and Superannuation Amendment Act, 1908,” His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting under the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Dominion, doth hereby amend the regulations made by Order in Council dated the seventeenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eight, by revoking clause five of the said regulations, and substituting in lieu thereof the clause set forth in the Schedule hereto; and with the like advice and consent doth prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date of the first publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

SCHEDULE.
Every contributor whose pay is temporarily stopped owing to ill health, or who is on leave of absence without salary, or is temporarily unemployed, shall—
(a.) Contribute to the fund monthly so long as his pay is stopped; or
(b.) Cease to contribute to the fund while his pay is stopped, and thereafter contribute monthly by way of deduction from pay an additional amount equal to the amount of his ordinary contribution for a period as long as that during which his pay was so stopped; all such arrears of contributions to bear interest at the rate of 4 per cent. per annum.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Civil Service Act, 1908,” the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Dominion, doth, in respect of the regulations made by Order in Council on the twenty-sixth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and seven, make the amendments set forth in the Schedule hereto; and, with the like advice and consent, doth prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date of the first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
CLAUSE 1:—
Delete the words “sections 2 and 3 of 'The Civil Service Examination Act, 1900,' ” and insert in lieu thereof the words “section 9 of 'The Civil Service Act, 1908.' ”
Clause 5:—
(i.) Delete the words “In subjects corresponding to those prescribed for,” and substitute therefor the words “In lieu of.”
(ii.) Delete the word “chartered,” and insert in lieu thereof the word “recognised.”
(iii.) Delete all the words after the words “quantum valent.”
Clause 6:—
(i.) Delete the words “two subjects,” and insert in lieu thereof the word “subject.”
(ii.) From the list of subjects given in Group I delete “(2.) English Language and Literature”; and in Group II, above the words “(3.) Greek,” insert the words “(2.) English Language and Literature.”
(iii.) After the words “(23.) Agricultural Chemistry,” insert the words “[Cannot be taken in addition to (15)].”
(iv.) After the words “(24.) Agricultural Zoology,” insert the words “[Cannot be taken in addition to (18)].”
(v.) After the words “(25.) Agricultural Botany” insert the words “[Cannot be taken in addition to (19)].”
(vi.) Below the words “(36.) Life and Accident Insurance Law” insert the words “(37.) Elementary Principles of Interest, Life Annuities, and Insurances,” and “(37A.) Practice of Life and Accident Insurance.”
(vii.) After the words “(39.) Elementary Actuarial Mathematics” insert the words “[Cannot be taken in addition to (37)].”
(viii.) After the words “(43.) Building Construction” insert the words “and Drawing.”
(ix.) Below the words “(47.) Shorthand” insert the words “(48.) Architecture,” “(49.) Perspective,” and the words “No candidate who takes subject (23.) Agricultural Chemistry can take subject (15.) Chemistry also. Similarly, no candidate who takes (24.) Agricultural Zoology, or (25.) Agricultural Botany, or (39.) Elementary Actuarial Mathematics, can take (18.) Zoology, or (19.) Botany, or (37.) Elementary Principles of Interest, Life Annuities, and Insurances, as the case may be.”
Clause 7:—
Delete the whole of clause 7, and insert in lieu thereof the words:—
