HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the award of the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers' Decoration to
Lieutenant-Colonel JAMES PATON WATT, 1st Regiment, Wellington (West Coast) Mounted Rifle Volunteers, he having a total rank and commissioned service to 4th December, 1908, entitling him thereto of twenty years and seventy-two days.

Date of Election of Members of the Hastings Fire Board.

Wellington, 19th January, 1909.
PURSUANT to section 18 of "The Fire Brigades Act, 1908," I, David Buddo, Minister of Internal Affairs, and the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Thursday, the 4th day of March, 1909, to be the day for the holding of an election of three members of the Hastings Fire Board by the contributing local authority.
And I do further appoint Monday, the 15th day of February, 1909, to be the day for the holding of an election of three members of the said Hastings Fire Board by the insurance companies which for the time being are carrying on business within the said Hastings Fire District.

THE following special orders, made by the Moturoa, Okutuku, and Wairoa Road Boards, are published in accordance with the provisions of "The Road Boards Act, 1908."

MOTUROA ROAD BOARD.
Special Order making Rate.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1908," the Moturoa Road Board hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of £232, being part of a joint loan of £1,200, authorised to be raised by the Moturoa Road Board in conjunction with the Okutuku and Wairoa Road Boards and the Patea County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of completing the gap between the Mangitangi and Okotuku Roads by acquiring the land necessary for such purpose, fencing and forming a road and rendering the same fit for traffic, the said Moturoa Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 3d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the special district in the Moturoa Road Board District called "The Okotuku Special-rating District," comprising all those sections of land bounded on the north by boundary between Wellington and Taranaki Land Districts, on the west by the Okotuku Road, on the south by Okotuku Road, on the east by Section 76, Block II, Wairoa Survey District, Momohaki Stream, western shore of Momohaki Lake, and Sections 5 and 9, Block III, Omahine Survey District, as per Schedule hereunder—

and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of March and the 1st day of September in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off, the interest to be paid on such loan being at the rate of £3 10s. per centum per annum; and that the cost of raising such loan and interest for the first year be paid out of the loan-moneys.
I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly passed in accordance with "The Road Boards Act, 1908."
