to be Trustees of all that parcel of land, containing 17 perches, more or less, situated in the Township of Duntroon, being part of Allotment 4, Block I, on the plan of the said township, deposited in the Lands Registry Office, at Dunedin, as No. 80, and being also part of Section No. 8, Block IV, shown on the public map of the Maruwhenua District, deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, at Dunedin; together with all buildings erected thereon; to hold the said several premises for the purpose of maintaining a drill-shed for Volunteer purposes, and generally for the purposes of and with the powers conferred by the said Act. And it is hereby declared that the said Trustees shall be incorporated under the name of “The Trustees of the Duntroon Volunteer Drill-shed Reserve,” and that they shall take office as such Trustees on the seventh day of June, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this seventh day of June, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

Officer Commanding Public Schools Cadet Force appointed.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by 'The Defence Act, 1908,' I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify that Major THOMAS WILLIAM McDONALD has been appointed Officer Commanding the Public School Cadet Force of the Dominion, and attached to the General Staff of the Forces, as from the first day of June, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eleventh day of June, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

Opening Lands in Hawke's Bay Land District for Sale or Selection.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by "The Land Act, 1908," I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the fourteenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and nine; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

Opening National Endowment Land in Nelson Land District for Selection.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the twenty-eighth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and nine, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

LOCALITY AND DESCRIPTION.

This block is situated between the Anatoki River and Waikoromumu Creek, and, with the exception of about 600 acres of open land covered with fern, manuka scrub, and native grass, consists of hills covered chiefly with birch and a little scattered rimu.
The country is well watered, and lies at an elevation of 350 ft. to 2,500 ft. above sea level. The formation is slate and sandstone. The northern part of the block can be reached by road and track from the port at Waitapu, three miles and a half of the distance being good dray-road and one mile of unformed track. The southern portion is accessible from Takaka by three miles and a half of dray-road and one mile of bridle-track.

Opening Settlement Lands in Otago Land District for Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” and “The Land for Settlements Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the twenty-ninth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and nine, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.
