All in the Southland Land District; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked and coloured as above mentioned, and deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.

Declaring Kauaekake Road, in the Rangitikei County, to be a County Road.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of May, 1909.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD, K.C.M.G., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by "The Public Works Act, 1908," and of all other powers in anyway enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the road described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, be a county road.

SCHEDULE.

K A U A E K E K E R O A D.

All that portion of road in the Wellington Land District, Rangitikei County, known as the Kauaekake Road, commencing at its junction with the Turakina Valley Road, and proceeding generally in an easterly direction, intersecting Section 4, and fronting part Section 17, Block XIV, Maungakaretu Survey District, and terminating at a point 1 chain east of traverse peg xxxiv, being a distance of one mile, or thereabouts; as the said road is more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 4362, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

"The Public Service Classification and Superannuation Act, 1908."—Extending Time for Employment of a Temporary Officer.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of May, 1909.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD, K.C.M.G., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by subsection two of section sixteen of "The Public Service Classification and Super- annuation Act, 1908" (hereinafter called "the said Act"), it is provided that the Governor may, by Order in Council, in any case in which he considers that the public interest so requires, authorise the temporary employment of any person or any class of persons for a longer period than is permitted by subsection one of section sixteen of the said Act:

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient that the period of the temporary employment of Ernest Somerset von Stürmer in the Post and Telegraph Department should be extended from six months to two years:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby authorise the temporary employment of the said Ernest Somerset von Stürmer in the Post and Telegraph Department for two years in lieu of six months.

Amending Regulations under "The Government Life Insurance Act, 1908."

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of May, 1909.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD, K.C.M.G., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council bearing date the nineteenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eight, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers vested in him by "The Government Life Insurance Act, 1908" (hereinafter referred to as "the said Act"), did make and prescribe certain rules and regulations for the purposes of the said Act:

And whereas it is expedient that Rule 13 set forth in the First Schedule of the said recited Order in Council should be revoked, and other provision made in lieu thereof, as hereinafter appears:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in this behalf vested in him, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the said Rule 13, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the following regulation, namely:

"MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF INSURANCE.

"13A. The sum assured on any one life shall not exceed the sum of five thousand pounds, exclusive of any bonus additions to the sum assured."

And in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities aforesaid, and by and with the like advice and consent as aforesaid, His said Excellency doth hereby order that this present Order in Council shall take effect on the date of the publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

Opening National Endowment Lands in Nelson Land District for Selection.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by "The Land Act, 1908," I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the eleventh day of August, one thousand nine hundred and nine, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.
