And that the number of votes recorded respectively for
and against the proposal was as follows: For the proposal,
199 votes; against the proposal, 379 votes; informal, 28 votes.
And we declare the said proposal to be rejected.

PROPOSAL.

(a.) The particular purpose for which the loan is required
is for erecting municipal buildings on Sections 1, 2, and 3,
deposited plan 1490 (or a portion thereof), in the Borough of
Timaru.

(b.) The sum proposed to be borrowed for such purpose is
£4,000, having a currency not exceeding fifty years, and
bearing interest and sinking fund, together not exceeding
£5 10s. per centum per annum, or such greater or lesser
amount as may be required and may be allowed by law for
the purposes of this loan and for other purposes in relation
thereto prescribed by “The Municipal Corporations Act,
1908,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” or either
of them.

(c.) The proposed security is a special rate of 7/10d. in the
pound sterling on the amount of the annual rateable value
of all rateable property in the said borough, and the pro-
vision for repayment of the loan is a sinking fund of £1 per
centum per annum on the amount of such loan, or such
greater or lesser amount as may be required by law.

(d.) It is proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising
same and the interest on such loan for the first year.

And that the number of votes recorded respectively for
and against the proposal was as follows: For the proposal,
255 votes; against the proposal, 331 votes; informal, 22 votes.
And we declare the said proposal to be rejected.

PROPOSAL.

is for the formation and improvement of certain borough
streets.

(b.) The sum proposed to be borrowed for such purpose is
£6,000, having a currency not exceeding fifty years, and
bearing interest and sinking fund, together not exceeding
£5 10s. per centum per annum, or such greater or lesser
amount as may be required and may be allowed by law for
the purposes of this loan and for other purposes in relation
thereto prescribed by “The Municipal Corporations Act,
1908,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” or either
of them.

(c.) The proposed security is a special rate of 1d. in the
pound sterling on the amount of the annual rateable value
of all rateable property in the said borough, and the pro-
vision for repayment of the loan is a sinking fund of £1 per
centum per annum on the amount thereof, or such greater
or lesser amount as may be required and may be allowed by
law.

(d.) It is proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising
same and the interest on such loan for the first year.

And that the number of votes recorded respectively for
and against the proposal was as follows: For the proposal,
358 votes; against the proposal, 232 votes; informal, 18
votes.

And we declare the said proposal to be carried.

PROPOSAL.

is for the purpose of increasing the storage-capacity of the
borough waterworks, constructing another trunk main from
the present reservoir and the proposed reservoir, and other
works for improving the said waterworks in accordance with
Mr. Dobson’s plan and report, and for extending service-
mains in the borough and suburbs.

(b.) The sum proposed to be borrowed for such purpose is
£18,000, having a currency not exceeding fifty years, and
bearing interest and sinking fund, together not exceeding
£5 10s. per centum per annum, or such greater or lesser
amount as may be required and may be allowed by law for
the purpose of this loan and for other purposes in relation
thereto prescribed by “The Municipal Corporations Act,
1908,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” or either
of them.

(c.) The proposed security is a special rate of 2¾d. in the
pound sterling on the annual rateable value of all rateable
property in the said borough, and the provision for repay-
ment of the loan is a sinking fund of £1 per centum per
annum on the amount of such loan, or such greater or lesser
amount as may be required and may be allowed by law.

(d.) It is proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising
same and the interest on such loan for the first year.

And that the number of votes recorded respectively for and
against the proposal was as follows: For the proposal, 425
votes; against the proposal, 164 votes; informal, 19 votes.
And we declare the said proposal to be carried.

I, THE undersigned, hereby give notice that at the poll held
on Thursday, the 20th May, 1909, under the provisions of
“The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and “The Local
Elections Act, 1908,” and any amendments to either of
them, on the proposal to raise a special loan of £600 for the
purpose of purchasing the Town Hall and site and repairing
the building, the following number of votes was polled: For
the proposal, 52; against the proposal, 3.

As the number of votes polled for the proposal exceeds the
necessary three-fifths majority, I hereby declare the proposal
carried.

Burmack Company, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zea-
land having reasonable ground for supposing that the
company whose name and address are shown in the Schedule
hereunder is engaged in a fraudulent business or under-
taking, it is hereby ordered, under section 28 (1) (d) of “The
Post and Telegraph Act, 1908,” that no money-order in
favour of the said company shall be issued, and that no ·
postal packet addressed to the said company (either by its
own or any fictitious or assumed name), or to such address
without a name, shall be either registered, forwarded, or
delivered by the Post Office of New Zealand.

of not less than 66 ft., instead of 99 ft.
