POHANGINA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Orders.

THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Council of the County of Pohangina hereby resolves, by way of special order, to borrow the sum of £140, being 10 per centum on the original loan of £1,400 for constructing a bridge over the Pohangina River, near Raumai. The interest and sinking fund on the said loan shall not exceed £3 10s. per centum per annum, payable half-yearly on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until such loan is fully paid off.

The interest and sinking fund on the said loan shall not exceed £3 10s. per centum per annum, payable half-yearly on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until such loan is fully paid off.

THE following special order, made by the Chairman of the Ellesmere Lands Drainage Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

THE ELLESMERE LANDS DRAINAGE BOARD.
Special Order making Special Rate.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Ellesmere Lands Drainage Board hereby resolves (by way of special order) as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest (at a rate not exceeding 4 per cent. per annum) and other charges on a loan of £6,000, authorised to be raised in two sums of £3,000 in each of two successive years by the Ellesmere Lands Drainage Board, under the above-mentioned Act, for the following purposes—(a) repaying to the Selwyn County Council the sum of £1,968 7s. 8d., or such lesser sum as may be found to be payable to such Council in respect of moneys expended by it on drainage-works within the Ellesmere Lands Drainage District before the coming into operation of “The Ellesmere Lands Drainage Act, 1905,” and authorised by such Act, and “The Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1906,” to be paid to such Council, together with interest on such sum or any lesser sum as may be found to be payable thereon up to the time of payment; (b) of expending the balance of the said sum in or towards the acquisition, by purchase or otherwise, of works already constructed, or for the further construction, completion, and maintenance of such works, or for the construction of other works necessary to provide an outlet to the sea of the waters of Lake Ellesmere, and in or towards payment of the first year’s interest on the said loan, survey costs, and costs of raising the said loan and sundries—the said Ellesmere Lands Drainage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 5/64d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the Ellesmere Lands Drainage District, comprising all that area of land as described in the First Schedule to “The Ellesmere Lands Drainage Act, 1905”; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of May and the 1st day of November in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-two years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I, Robert Heaton Rhodes, Chairman of the Ellesmere Lands Drainage Board, do hereby certify that the above special order was duly made and passed at a special meeting of the Ellesmere Lands Drainage Board held on the 6th day of March, 1909, and was duly confirmed at a meeting of the said Board held on the 7th day of April, 1909.

BOROUGH OF TIMARU.
Proposal to raise Special Loans.
We hereby give notice that on the 19th day of May, 1909, the following proposals were submitted by the Timaru Borough Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Timaru for raising the special loans of the amounts and for the purposes hereinafter appearing, viz. :—
PROPOSAL.
(a.) The particular purpose for which the loan is required is for erecting a Town Hall on Sections 1, 2, 3, deposited plan 1490 (or a portion thereof), in the Borough of Timaru.
(b.) The sum proposed to be borrowed for such purpose is £5,000, having a currency not exceeding fifty years, and bearing interest and sinking fund, together not exceeding £5 10s. per centum per annum, or such greater or lesser amount as may be required and may be allowed by law for the purposes of this loan and for other purposes in relation thereto prescribed by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” or either of them.
(c.) The proposed security is a special rate of 7/8d. in the pound sterling on the annual rateable value of all rateable property in the said borough, and the provision for repayment of the loan is a sinking fund of £1 per centum per annum on the amount of such loan, or such greater or lesser amount as may be allowed by law.
(d.) It is proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising same and the interest on such loan for the first year.
