requested by any such constable or officer of the Board, take
such vehicle, together with the contents thereof, to the
nearest public weighbridge, and then and there weigh the
same; and no person shall obstruct any such constable or
officer in or about the making of such inspection, examination, measurement, or weighing.

  1. Applications for licenses under clause 1, or a permit
    under clause 2, of these by-laws shall be made in writing to
    the Clerk of the Board. Such licenses or permits shall be
    under the hand of the Clerk. All licenses shall expire twelve
    calendar months from the date of the issue thereof.

  2. The Clerk shall keep at the office of the Board a
    register of all licenses issued under clause 1, and permits
    issued under clause 2, of these by-laws. Such register shall
    be open to public inspection without fee.

  3. Every license shall be numbered, and the owner of the
    licensed vehicle shall cause the like number to be legibly
    painted and maintained during the currency of the license,
    on the off side of such vehicle, in black figures on a white
    ground, together with the letters “Pt. C.R.B., each of such
    figures and letters to be not less than 1½ in. in height.

  1. Licenses under clause 1 of these by-laws may be in or
    to the effect of the following form:-

The resolution to make these by-laws was adopted at a
special meeting of the Point Chevalier Road Board held at
Point Chevalier, in the office, on Monday, the 1st day of
March, 1909.

The common seal of the Inhabitants of the Point Chevalier
Road District was affixed hereto at a special meeting and by
order of the Board of the said district on the 1st day of
March, 1909, in the presence of-

I, Herbert Thomas Granville McElroy, of Williamson’s
Avenue, Grey Lynn, in the Provincial District of Auckland,
in the Dominion of New Zealand, Clerk to the Point
Chevalier Road Board, do hereby certify that the foregoing,
being heavy-traffic by-laws, were duly passed as a special
order by the Point Chevalier Road Board at a meeting held
on the 1st day of March, 1909, and that the following is a
true copy of the resolution passing such special order, which
resolution was duly passed at such meeting held on the 1st
day of March, 1909:

“Moved by the Chairman, seconded by Mr. McIvor, that
the heavy-traffic by-laws as submitted to the Board be
passed and ordained, and that such by-laws be sealed.”—
Carried.

And I further certify that such special resolution was duly
confirmed at a meeting of the said Board held on the 5th
day of April, 1909.

Special Order made by the Elliot Road Board, County of
Taranaki.

THE following special order, made by the Elliot Road
Board, is published in accordance with the provisions
of “The Road Boards Act, 1908.”

ELLIOT ROAD BOARD.
Special Order.

THAT, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £1,000, authorised to be raised by the
Elliot Road Board, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1908,” for the purpose of forming, kerbing, and metalling
the footpath for a length of 41½ chains, more or less, along
the northern side of the Elliot Road from Cutfield Road to
the western boundary of Soleville (£200), and completing the
grading, formation, and metalling of the Elliot Road through
to its junction with the Frankley Road at the Frankley Road
School (£800), the said Elliot Road Board hereby makes and
levies a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon the rateable
value of all rateable property of the Elliot Road District, comprising the whole of the Elliot Road District; and that such
special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the
currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day
of July in each and every year during the currency of such
loan, being a period of forty-one years.

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly
passed in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1908.”

Masterton.

THE following special order, received from the Council of
the County of Masterton, is published in accordance
with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1908.”

MASTERION COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order making Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Masterton County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for
the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a
loan of £1,000, authorised to be raised by the Masterton
County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for metalling the Alfredton-Weber Road, the said Masterton County
Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅛d. in the
pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the
Alfredton-Weber Road Loan Special-rating District, comprised within the following boundaries—that is to say, commencing at the southernmost corner of Section 2, Block XI,
Puketoi Survey District, and proceeding northwards, bounded
by the Waitawhiti Stream to its confluence with the Tirau-meā River; thence continuing northwards by the Tirau-meā River, by Sections 52, 32, and 53, Block VII, by the
north-east boundary of Section 12, and by that boundary
produced to the western side of Sauder’s Road; thence proceeding westwards by that road, and by Section 20,
Block VI, to the south-west boundary of Education Reserve
No. 15, Block II; thence proceeding northwards by the said
Reserve No. 15 to the public road forming part of the
northern boundary of Section 21 in the last-mentioned
Block; thence proceeding eastwards by the said road, and
by the Puketoi Road to a point opposite the south-eastern
corner of Section 24, Block III; thence proceeding north by
a straight line across the Puketoi Road to the said corner of
Section 24; thence by the said Section 24, and by part of
Section 27, Block III, all in the Puketoi Survey District, to
the Akitio County boundary; thence proceeding southwards
by the Akitio County and Castlepoint County boundaries,
and by the Waitawhiti Stream to the point of commencement; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be
payable half-yearly on the 1st day of February and the
1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until
the loan is fully paid off.

Passed at a special meeting of the Council, the 9th day of
March, 1909; confirmed the 13th day of April, 1909.

The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and
Inhabitants of the County of Masterton was affixed hereto in
the presence of-
