Descriptions of Runs.

Run 143A: High, ridgy country, with clay-shale formation, between Nugget Hill and Wairaki River; patches of good tussock land here and there; well watered.

Run 143B: Broken land, with fairly good tussock-grass, and some bush for shelter; well watered.

Run 156A¹: Situated on the bank of the Wairaki River; is moderately good tussock-grass country, well watered, with some bush here and there.

Run 415D: Adjoins the three foregoing runs, on the opposite side of the Wairaki River; high and broken country, poorly grassed, principally with snow-tussock, but some of the steep faces are denuded of vegetation; well watered.

The above runs are accessible by road from Nightcaps, the nearest portion of the land being about fourteen miles distant.

Run 350: Mostly mountainous country (1,100 ft. to 6,000 ft.), with a little flat land at south end. Frontage to Lake Wakatipu of about seven miles, with good aspect. The lake-frontage slopes are warm, and fairly well clothed with tussock, with, however, a good deal of fern near the lake. The remainder is steep, and the tops bare. Sweetbriar is beginning to show on this run. Access by road up Mararoa and Von Valleys, and by lake-steamer service from Queenstown, distant twelve miles.

Run 350A: Mountainous country (from 1,100 ft. to 6,000 ft.); frontage to Lake Wakatipu of about six miles, with good aspect. The lake slopes are warm and fairly well tussocked, but with a good deal of fern near the lake and Greenstone River. The remainder is steep, and the tops bare. Sweetbriar is showing on parts of the run, and blackberry on the reserve for recreation, which intersects the run. Principal access by lake-steamer service from Queenstown, distant twenty-two miles, though there is a bridle-track down the lake-side.

Runs 2B and 3A: Rough mountainous country (1,100 ft. to 6,000 ft.), with a little flat country along lake frontage. The frontage to Lake Wakatipu, though steep, is warm, having a northerly aspect. Slopes fairly well tussocked with white and snow tussock, but here and there steep faces with running single slips; tops bare. Access from Queenstown, distant eight miles, by lake-steamer service.

Full particulars may be ascertained and plans obtained at this office.

E. H. WILMOT,
Commissioner of Crown Lands.
