Special Orders made by the Council of the City of Christchurch.

THE following special orders, made by the Christchurch City Council, are published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL.

Special Orders to raise a Loan and to make a Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Christchurch City Sanitation Empowering Act, 1908,” “The Public Health Act, 1908,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Christchurch City Council hereby resolves as follows:—

(a.) That, whereas by section 3 of “The Christchurch City Sanitation Empowering Act, 1908,” the Christchurch City Council is empowered by special order and in manner provided by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” to borrow moneys not exceeding in the whole the sum of £30,000: Now, therefore, the said Christchurch City Council doth hereby by special order resolve to borrow by way of special loan the sum of £5,000, to be borrowed and expended during two successive years, and in manner provided in the said “Christchurch City Sanitation Empowering Act, 1908,” such loan to be for a period of twenty-six years, and bear interest at the rate of £4 10s. per centum per annum.

(b.) That, for the purpose of providing the interest, at the rate of £4 10s. per centum per annum, and other charges on the aforesaid loan of £5,000, so authorised to be raised and expended by the Christchurch City Council during two successive years, and in manner provided in “The Christchurch City Sanitation Empowering Act, 1908,” the said Christchurch City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/160d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property comprised within the boundaries of the City of Christchurch, as constituted and described by Proclamation of His Excellency the Governor published on the 1st day of April, 1903, in a Supplement to the New Zealand Gazette of Thursday, the 26th day of March, 1903, pages 883 and 884, and the boundaries as described in the Schedule thereto, as amended by the Order in Council altering the boundaries of the City of Christchurch published in the New Zealand Gazette dated the 4th day of April, 1907, page 1136: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 31st day of January in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Christchurch was hereto affixed in the presence of—

We hereby certify that the above special orders were duly adopted at a special meeting of the Christchurch City Council held on the 23rd day of November, 1908, and were duly confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the said Council held on the 21st day of December, 1908.

Special Order made by the Council of the County of Manawatu.

THE following special order, made by the Manawatu County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Manawatu County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £600, authorised to be raised by the Manawatu County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the construction of drainage-works in the Oroua Downs Estate and Wellington–Manawatu Railway Company’s endowment, the said loan to be for a period of forty-one years, and that the interest to be paid is at the rate of 3½ per centum per annum, the said Manawatu County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅓d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Downs Special-rating District, comprising Section 166, Block V, Te Kawau Survey District; Sections 5, 5A, 5B, 5C, 6, 12, 13, and 23 of the Oroua Downs Estate, Blocks IX and XIII, Te Kawau Survey District; and all that portion of the Wellington–Manawatu Railway Company’s endowment situated to the north of the southern boundary of Block III, Sandy, containing 2,700 acres, in the occupation of Messrs. Dalrymple and Wilson: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The above special order was adopted by the Manawatu County Council on the 14th day of October, 1908, and was duly confirmed at a subsequent meeting of the Council held on the 25th day of November, 1908.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Waiuku Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

WAIUKU ROAD DISTRICT.

RESULT of the poll of ratepayers taken on the 14th day of December, 1908, in the Akaaka Special-rating Area, Waiuku Road District, on the proposal to borrow £4,000 at 3½ per cent. for forty-one years, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” to metal the road from Spencer’s boundary to the eastern drain by Hill’s Road and to the Hermitage corner.

Total valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 53; total valid votes recorded against the proposal, 2.

As the total number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I declare the said proposal carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Temuka, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

BOROUGH OF TEMUKA.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and in the matter of the proposal of the Council of the Borough of Temuka to raise a special loan of £1,800 for the purpose of constructing sewers and house-drains in that portion of the said borough lying between Ewen Road and Cass Street.

I HEREBY give notice that on Friday, the 18th day of December, 1908, a poll of the electors of that portion of the said borough affected by the said proposal (all having residential qualifications being excluded) was taken upon the said proposal of the said Council of the said borough in pursuance of the powers and provisions contained in the said Acts, and at the said poll the following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 53; against the proposal, 15; informal, 2.

I therefore declare the proposal carried.
