IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by section two of “The Civil Service Amendment Act, 1908,” and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby appoint

to be District Valuers under the said Act.

THE HONOURABLE JAMES CARROLL PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by “The Public Works Act, 1908,” it is, in section fifteen thereof, inter alia, enacted that, except for the purpose of a railway or defence purposes, or for the purposes of any other work to be made under the authority of a special Act, nothing in this Act contained shall authorise the taking of any land occupied by any building, yard, garden, orchard, or vineyard, or in bona fide occupation as an ornamental park or pleasure-ground, without the previous consent of the Governor in Council :
And whereas the Minister has recommended the Governor to issue an Order in Council under the said Act consenting to the taking of the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of a road :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the land described in the Schedule hereto being taken for the purposes above mentioned.

Declaring Road in the County of Hawke’s Bay to be a County Road.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this nineteenth day of December, 1908.

THE HONOURABLE JAMES CARROLL PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1908,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the road described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, be a county road.
SCHEDULE.
OKAU ROAD.
ALL that portion of road in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, known as the Okau Road, commencing at its junction with the New Kereru Road, and proceeding thence in a south-westerly direction for a distance of about 64 chains to where it ends at the north-east corner of Section 8, Block XIV, Matapiro Survey District ; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 8709, coloured red, and deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.

Declaring Native Land to be Subject to Part II of the Native Land Settlement Act, 1907.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this nineteenth day of December, 1908.

THE HONOURABLE JAMES CARROLL PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the Commission referred to in section fifty-four of the Native Land Settlement Act, 1907, has reported to the Governor that certain Native land, to wit, the Native land described in the Schedule hereto, should be reserved for the use and occupation of Maoris :
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon him by the aforesaid section fifty-four, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby declare that the Native land described in the Schedule hereto shall be subject to Part II of the aforesaid Act, as from the date of this Order in Council.
