AT a special meeting of the Makerua Drainage Board held on the 8th day of February, 1909, it was moved by H. Greig, seconded by J. Liggins, that the following special order be now made:—

SPECIAL ORDER.

Loan of £2,000, Special District No. 2.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and the amendments thereto, the Makerua Drainage Board hereby resolves as follows: That the Makerua Drainage Board proposes to raise a loan of £2,000, under the provisions and authority of paragraph (d) of section 15 of the principal Act, for the concentration and discharge of the drainage from 1,686 acres, or thereabouts, into the Board’s main drain; and that a special roll of the ratepayers in Special District No. 2, the part of the Makerua Drainage District for which the loan of £2,000 is proposed to be raised, has been prepared and lodged for public inspection in the manner prescribed by subsection (3) of section 3 of the principal Act; and that such special roll was deposited for public inspection at the Courthouse, Palmerston North, on the 28th day of January, 1909; and that for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on the said loan of £2,000, authorised to be raised by the Makerua Drainage Board, under the before-mentioned Act, the Makerua Drainage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 53/100d. in the pound upon the rateable values of all properties in Special District No. 2, consisting of Sections 56 and 57 and part of the Makerua Estate, containing in all 1,685 acres 3 roods 39 perches, and of a valuation of £34,985; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and to be payable half-yearly on the 1st days of February and August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The cost of raising the loan and the first year’s interest to be paid out of loan.—Carried.

THE following special orders, made by the Dunedin City Council, are published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL.

Special Order. — The South Dunedin Street-widening Loan, 1909.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and “The Borough of South Dunedin Empowering Act, 1904,” and all other powers and authorities enabling it in this behalf, the Dunedin City Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purposes of providing the interest and other charges on a special loan of £30,000, authorised to be raised by the Dunedin City Council, under “The Borough of South Dunedin Empowering Act, 1904,” the said Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 6d. in the pound upon the annual rateable value of all rateable property in the South Dunedin Ward of the City of Dunedin; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and shall be payable (subject to the provisions of the said Act of 1904) half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-five years from the 1st day of January, 1909, or until the loan is fully paid off.

We hereby certify that the above special order was duly adopted at a special meeting of the Dunedin City Council held on the 5th day of February, 1909, and was duly confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the Council held on the 10th day of March, 1909.

DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL.

Special Order.—The 1909 Collective Loan of £176,900.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” “The Dunedin Suburban Gas Company Empowering Act, 1907,” “The Waipori Falls Electrical Power Act, 1904,” and “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908,” and all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling it in this behalf, the Dunedin City Council hereby resolves as follows: (a) That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on the special loans hereinafter specified, intended to be raised by the Dunedin City Council in one aggregate loan of £176,900, to be called “The 1909 Collective Loan of £176,900,” for the purposes and in connection with the works hereinafter mentioned, that is to say—

(1.) A loan of £32,900, under the authority of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” for the purpose of paying off to that extent the special loan of £50,000 issued in 1905, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for making alterations and additions to the gasworks belonging to the Dunedin City Corporation and for other purposes connected with such works;

(2.) A loan of £14,000, under the authority of “The Dunedin Suburban Gas Company Empowering Act, 1907,” for the purposes of that Act;

(3.) A loan of £130,000, under the authority of “The Waipori Falls Electrical Power Act, 1904,” for the purposes of that Act—

the Dunedin City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 9d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the City of Dunedin: (b) and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such aggregate loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-five years from the 1st day of January, 1909, or until such aggregate loan is fully paid off.

We hereby certify that the above special order was duly adopted at a special meeting of the Dunedin City Council held on the 5th day of February, 1909, and was duly confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the Council held on the 10th day of March, 1909.
