Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of “The Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908,” doth hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserves described in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the Selwyn County, in trust, for gravel-pits.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 7 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 3741, situated in Block VI, Christchurch Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by a public road, 1065·3 links, and parts of Rural Sections Nos. 2446 and 2445, 561·3 links; towards the south-east by parts of Rural Sections Nos. 2455 and 2446, 699·8 links; and towards the south-west by Rural Section No. 2446, 1337·5 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 5266/2A, deposited at the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Time for Preparation of Westland County Roll under Section 46 of “The Rating Act, 1908,” extended.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this thirty-first day of March, 1909.

WHEREAS, the County Council of the Westland County having failed, through misadventure, to prepare the valuation roll of mining property in the Westland County in the month of January, one thousand nine hundred and nine, as required by section forty-six of “The Rating Act, 1908,” it is expedient to extend the time for preparing the said roll, as hereinafter mentioned:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in order that the purpose and intent of the said “Rating Act, 1908,” may have effect, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby extend the time for the preparation of the valuation roll for the Westland County under “The Rating Act, 1908,” until the thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and nine; and doth also hereby extend the time within which the valuers shall give notice of the rateable value determined by them to each occupier, so that such notices may be given on or before the third day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nine, and that objections to such valuations may be made on or before the nineteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

Waihekau Drainage District, County of Piako, constituted.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this thirty-first day of March, 1909.

Present:

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD, K.C.M.G.,
PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of the third section of “The Land Drainage Act, 1908,” a majority of the ratepayers in the area of land described in the Schedule hereto, situated in the County of Piako, have presented a petition to His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, praying that the said area be constituted a drainage district under the provisions of the said Act:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority contained in the third section of “The Land Drainage Act, 1908,” and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby constitute and declare the area of land described in the Schedule hereto to be a district for the purposes of Part I of the said Act, and to be called by the name of the “Waihekau Drainage District”; and also, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority contained in the fourth section of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the Board of Trustees for the said district shall consist of five persons, to be elected as members of the said Board under and in accordance with the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

WAIHEKAU DRAINAGE DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, situated in Block XVI, Waiota Survey District, and Block IV, Maungakawa Survey District. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 33, Block XVI aforesaid, from the Waiota River to the easternmost corner of that section; thence towards the east generally by the road forming the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 34 to its easternmost corner; thence by the road forming the south-eastern boundary of that section to its junction with the road forming the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 36, Block XVI aforesaid; thence by the last-mentioned road to the easternmost corner of that section; thence by Sections Nos. 7, 8, and 9, Block IV aforesaid, to the southernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence towards the south-east by Waihekau No. 2 Block to the southernmost corner of Section No. 6, Block IV aforesaid; thence towards the west generally by the road forming the western boundaries of Sections Nos. 6, 5, 4, and 3, Block IV aforesaid, and Section No. 36, Block XVI aforesaid, to Section No. 40 (school reserve); thence by that section and across the road at its northernmost corner to the railway-line; thence by the railway-line to the Waiota River; and thence by the Waiota River to the place of commencement.

Land in the Lillburn Survey District, County of Wallace, to be a Sanctuary for Imported and Native Game.

PLUNKET, Governor.

PURSUANT to the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the area described in the Schedule hereto shall be a sanctuary for the purposes of the said Animals Protection Act, and that no imported game or native game shall be taken or killed within the said area.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area, containing about 2,429 acres, situated in the County of Wallace, being Sections 2 and 3, Block VI, Lillburn Survey District, the said area being owned by Arthur Struan Gardner, of Clifden.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and nine.
