Notice fixing Closing-hours of Boot-shops in the Borough of New Plymouth under the Shops and Offices Act.


WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the boot-shops in the Borough of New Plymouth, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Monday, 6 p.m.; Tuesday, 6 p.m.; Wednesday, 6 p.m.; Thursday, 1 p.m.; Friday, 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 p.m.—with the exception of the period from the 21st December to the 31st December in each year, both days inclusive: And whereas the New Plymouth Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the boot-shops in the Borough of New Plymouth:

Now, therefore, I, Alexander Wilson Hogg, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1908,” do hereby direct that from and after the 22nd day of March, 1909, all the boot-shops in the Borough of New Plymouth shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.
