Situated on Mangatoro Road, about eight miles from junction of Mokau and Tongaporutu-Mangaroa Roads, with dray-road to within three miles of section. Steep and broken country on frontage, good valley in centre, and good land at back; good soil, on papa-and-sandstone formation; well watered. The forest is heavy, comprising rata, rimu, kahikatea, hinau, and birch on ridges.

Situated on Tongaporutu-Mangaroa Road, across the Mangatawa Stream. Access from Okau by road now being made into dray-road. Steep and broken land; soil, fair to inferior, on papa-and-sandstone formation; well watered; and covered with heavy forest of rata, rimu, hinau, tawa, tawhero, &c., and dense undergrowth.

Situated on Rerekapa Road. Access either from Uruti or Whangamomona, each about twenty-five miles distant. Steep slopes and broken country; soil, fair to good quality, on papa-and-sandstone formation; well watered. The forest is heavy, comprising rata, rimu, kahikatea, hinau, tawhero, tawa, &c., and dense undergrowth.

Opening Land in Otago Land District for Sale or Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Thursday, the eleventh day of March, one thousand nine hundred and nine; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

This allotment forms part of what was formerly the Kurow Nursery, and is distant only a few chains from Kurow Railway-station. The land is fairly good throughout, and is valuable on account of its proximity to the Town of Kurow. It is fenced on three sides, and is subdivided by other fences. The fencing goes with the land. Buildings, consisting of dwellinghouse, outhouses, and shed (total value, £170), are also included in the capital value.

General Description.
Low hills and gullies of clay-gravel formation; originally covered with forest, chiefly birch, with a few rimu, and mixed undergrowth; the greater part is now burnt, and certain portions have been sown with grass, details of which are given above. The country is suitable for sheep-grazing, and rises to an elevation of about 1,700 ft. above sea-level.
