PLUNKET, Governor.

PURSUANT to the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the areas described in the Schedule hereto shall be sanctuaries for the purposes of the said Animals Protection Act, and that no imported game or native game shall be taken or killed within the said areas.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area, containing 154 acres, being Section No. 374, and part of Sections Nos. 372 and 373, Palmerston North, the said area being owned and occupied by Charlotte Sarah Slack.

Also all that area, containing 296 acres, at Longburn, being Sections Nos. 18, 20, and 21, Kairanga Survey District, the said area being owned and occupied by William Edward Arthur Slack and John Upton Gaskell Slack.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this nineteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

Regulations for Deer-shooting, Wanganui.


PLUNKET, Governor.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1908” (hereinafter called “the said Act”), I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the following regulations prescribing the deer-shooting season in the Wanganui Acclimatisation District, comprising the Counties of Wanganui and Waitotara, and the conditions affecting the same, and also the form of license and the fee payable therefor.


REGULATIONS.

  1. Fallow-deer bucks may be taken or killed within the Wanganui Acclimatisation District from the 1st day of April, 1909, to the 15th day of May, 1909, both days inclusive.

  2. Licenses to take or kill such deer may be issued by the Chief Postmaster at Wanganui on payment of a license fee of £1, in the form prescribed in the Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and these regulations. The number of such licenses shall not exceed thirty: Provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person.

  3. No licensee shall take or kill more than two bucks, and no buck shall be killed carrying antlers with less than four points.

  4. No doe or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever; and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  5. The licensee must give notice to the said Chief Postmaster of the date on which it is his intention to stalk deer; such notice to be posted, or delivered, or telegraphed three clear days before such date.

  6. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorising any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

  7. Any person committing a breach of any of these regulations shall be liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding £20.

Regulations under Part VIII of “The Land Act, 1908.”


PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by section two hundred and sixty-nine of “The Land Act, 1908” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time make regulations for any of the purposes enumerated therein: And whereas it is expedient to revoke all regulations heretofore made under “The Mining Districts Land Occupation Act, 1894,” and in lieu thereof to make the regulations for the several purposes hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby revoke all regulations heretofore made under “The Mining Districts Land Occupation Act, 1894,” and in lieu thereof do hereby make the following regulations for the issue of leases for the occupation for agricultural or horticultural purposes of Crown lands and reserves within mining districts other than Native reserves not set apart for mining, or land reserved for Native purposes, or an education or university endowment, or any reserve vested in trustees or any local body.


REGULATIONS.

  1. The lease to be granted under these regulations shall be termed an “occupation lease.” Every person desirous of obtaining an occupation lease for agricultural or horticultural purposes of any reserve or portion of any reserve set apart for mining purposes, or any other Crown land within any mining district not exceeding 100 acres, shall make application to the Commissioner of Crown Lands or the District Land Officer of the land district in which the land applied for is situated, in the form of the First Schedule to these regulations, or to the like effect.

  2. Every application for other than a whole section or whole sections of surveyed land shall state the estimated area, and shall be accompanied by a tracing or sketch from a survey map sufficient to identify the particular area applied for.

  3. Every application for unsurveyed land shall contain a written description of the land, with estimated area, and the boundaries shall, so far as practicable, be straight lines, roads, existing survey lines, or natural boundaries.

  4. Should the land applied for be unsurveyed, the applicant shall, within thirty days of the notification to him of the approval of his application, deposit the estimated cost of surveying the area applied for, otherwise the application shall be deemed to be cancelled and withdrawn.
