PURSUANT to "The Mining Act, 1908," the undersigned, Arthur Norman Wakefield, of Lawrence, Dredgemaster, and Robert Macfarlane Murie, of Invercargill, Engineer, hereby apply for a license for a water-race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Locality of the race and of its starting and terminal points: Commencing at wall of dam across Tuapeka River held by the Tamaiti Gold-mining Company (Limited) under License 539/1904; thence south-west by pipe-line through Mining Reserve, 400 ft.; thence west by open race to north-western boundary of Mining Reserve and crossing road-line, 15 chains; thence west by open race through Section 4, Block X, Tuapeka West District, 23 chains; thence south-west by siphon through said Section 4, Mining Reserve, road-line, and Section 5 of said block, 1,800 ft.; thence south-west by open race through said Section 5 and Mining Reserve, 50 chains, to a point on spur near south-east corner of said Section 5; thence south by pipe-line through said Section 5 and part Mining Reserve and crossing Tuapeka River, 800 ft., and terminating at Section 31, Block XI, Waitahuna West District, held by the Tamaiti Gold-mining Company (Limited) under Amalgamation License No. 249, dated 24th February, 1908.

Precise time of marking out: 3rd February, 1909, at 6 p.m.

Length and intended course of race: One mile and a half; south-west and west.

Points of intake: One, commencing-point.

Estimated time and cost of construction: Six months; £1,200.

Mean depth and breadth: 1 ft. 6 in. by 3 ft.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Mining purposes.
