NOTICES of Requests to amend Specifications.

REQUESTS for leave to amend the undermentioned
specifications have been received, and all documents
and are open to public inspection at this office. Any person
desiring to oppose any such request must, by notice to the
Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition to the amend-
ment, with a statement of the grounds thereof, on or
before publication, and in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable
thereon.
No. 26866.—D. Murchie, of Dunedin, Otago, electrical
Haste, Acetylene generators. (G. L. Burton.) [Advertised in
Supplement to New Zealand Gazette, No. 97, of the 11th
November, 1907.]
The amendment to the proposed amendments is as follows:
(1) To strike out, in the preamble, the preamble, instead of
“valve-holder,” line 7, page 2, the words “instead of “cylinder,"
lines 9, 10 and 11, “cylinder,” lines 11 and 12, and the valve-
holder “instead of “cylinder,” line 19, page 2.
(2) To strike out, line 10, instead of “top,” of page 13, line
page 13, 1, and upwards “instead of “downwards,” line 13,
page 13.
(3) To strike out the words “general construction,” instead
of “generators,” line 14, page 13, to strike out the words
in of the second “one of said,” line 3, page 2, to strike out
“with “instead of “to cover the top end of,” lines 10 and 11,
page 2.
(4) To insert the following additional claim:— “3. An
acetylene generator comprising an air-valve communicating
with the gas-chamber and the air-chamber, and adapted to be lifted
from the top end of its gas holder, and communicating at
the bottom with the water and the air-chamber, substantially
as and for the purposes set forth.”
*The applicant states, “The reasons for making this amend-
ment are as follows: It is now desired to make clearer the
plaintaining the invention and defining the scope of the claims.”
No. 25749.—E. Arnold, Ventilating system. (Advertised
in Supplement to New Zealand Gazette, No. 71, of the 23rd
August, 1906.)
The nature of the proposed amendments is as follows:
(1) To strike out, in the first “one of said,” of claim 1, the
following: “a curtain 5 to raise or drop inside space 3 made
in an opening through,” to strike out the words “to open
outside air from the air or close itself to inspect windows, or
other material if desired, to work from the inside in a casing
with.”
(2) After the words “if desired,” line 16, page 2, insert the
following: “When it is desired to close the window-way 2
the walls to be stopped and held when high enough by
means of a strip above casing, the window-way is made by
providing an escape 2, and in claim 4, line 2, and in
Division 13 to be made where desired in space 3, or to be a
ventilating-space through the casing 8.”
(3) In the claim 5, to insert the words “of ventilation”
instead of “openable,” line 6, to insert “to be provided”
“openable,” line 6, and to insert, after “desired,” line 11,
the following: “curtain to be placed inside openwork, to
allow an open, or opening in a casing 8 of casing, or to be
extended all round and throughout a room or building, or as
otherwise desired.”

ment are as follows: It is now desired to make clearer the
main invention, and to make it more practicable.”
