on volcanic cement formation ; fairly well watered by spring
and streams. Situated fifteen to seventeen miles from
Matata—fourteen miles dray-road, balance bridle-track.

Weighted as follows for milling-timbers : Section 4, about
2,068,000 sup. feet, £519 10s. ; Section 5, about 2,534,000 sup.
feet, £633 10s. ; Section 7, about 1,729,000 sup. feet, £409 15s.
Altitude, 600 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level. Mostly un-
dulating land ; some steep spurs on Sections 4 and 7, and
some flats along road in latter section ; 50 acres of fern on
Section 5, and the same area on Section 7 ; remainder of
sections mixed forest, comprising tawa, rimu, puriri, hinau,
mangeao, pukatea, miro, matai, rata, tanekaha, rewarewa,
and kohekohe, with thick undergrowth of supplejack, mako-
mako, mahoe, mapou, punga, nikau, kiekie, and tawhero.
Soil light and sandy, but good to fair in quality, on volcanic
cement formation ; well watered. Situated on the Rotoma-
Manawahe Road, twelve to thirteen miles from Matata, by
formed dray-road.

Notifying the Proposed Exchange of Crown Land in the
Marlborough Land District for other Land.


PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and forty-two of
"The Land Act, 1908," it is enacted that it shall be
lawful for the Governor, whenever he deems it expedient in
the public interest, to grant in fee-simple any area of Crown
land which is subject to the provisions of "The Land Act,
1908," in exchange for the fee-simple of any other land
which in his opinion is of approximately equal value, and
that all land acquired by the Crown by any such exchange
shall become Crown land, and be subject to the provisions of
"The Land Act, 1908" :

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is ex-
pedient to exchange the Crown land described in the first
column of the Schedule hereto for the land described in the
second column of the said Schedule, and the owners of the
land described in the second column of the said Schedule
have agreed to such exchange :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and
authorities conferred on him by the said section one hundred
and forty-two, doth hereby declare that it is his intention to
grant in fee-simple those areas of Crown land described in
the first column of the Schedule hereto in exchange for the
fee-simple of those areas of land described in the second
column of the said Schedule.


SCHEDULE.

Description of Crown Land authorised to be exchanged. Description of Land to be obtained in Exchange therefor.
All those areas of Crown land in the Marlborough Land District, containing in the aggregate by admeasurement 1,773 acres, more or less, and being Sections 1 and 2, Block XIII, and Section 2, Block VII, Blue Mountain Survey District ; as the same are delineated on the plan marked L. 57695/10, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured green. All those areas in the Marlborough Land District, containing in the aggregate by admeasurement 725 acres, more or less, being part of Sections 15, 16, 17, and 18 of Square 40, Flaxbourne Crown Grant District, situated in Block XIX, Blue Mountain Survey District ; and also part of Sections 70 and 71, Richmond Brook Run, Awatere Crown Grant District, situated in Block XIII, Blue Mountain Survey District : as the same are delineated on the plan marked L. 57695/10, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged pink.

Trustee for the Tolago Bay Public Cemetery appointed.


PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by the fourth section of "The Cemeteries
Act, 1908," I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of
the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

JAMES MILLER

to be a Trustee, in the place of John M. Nelson, who has
left the district, to provide for the maintenance and care of
the Tolago Bay Public Cemetery, in conjunction with George
Kilburn, William Edward Holder, Henry Glover, John
Abraham Moore, William Lockwood, and George Boreham,
previously appointed by His Excellency the Governor.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this tenth day of December, one thousand nine
hundred and nine.

Postmasters appointed to take and receive Statutory Declarations.


PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by
the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of "The
Justices of the Peace Act, 1908," I, William Lee, Baron
Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
do hereby notify and declare that the persons set out in the
Schedule hereto, being persons holding the office of Post-
master under "The Post and Telegraph Act, 1908," at the
places set opposite their names in the said Schedule, are
authorised to take and receive statutory declarations under
the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of "The Justices
of the Peace Act, 1908."
