Notifying Land in Southland Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-twenty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the twelfth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and ten, as the time at which the land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the price at which the said land shall be sold as that mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.

Waikaka is the terminus of the Gore-Waikaka Railway, and is distant about twelve miles from Gore. Part of the section has been excavated by mining operations, and it is not very suitable for building purposes.

Notice of Application to proclaim Watercourses, together with all their Tributaries, for the Deposit of Tailings, &c.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in him by “The Mining Act, 1908,” His Excellency the Governor hereby notifies that application has been made to him to constitute and set apart by Proclamation the watercourses the names, localities, and descriptions whereof are set forth in the Schedule hereto to be watercourses into which may be discharged any tailings, débris, and waste water produced by or resulting from mining operations carried on under the said Act.

Any person who objects to such Proclamation being made, or whose land, or riparian or other rights in respect of such land, will be damaged or injuriously affected by the operation thereof, is required to serve on the Minister of Mines, within the period of ninety days after the publication hereof in the Gazette, full particulars of such objection, and also a claim in the prescribed form setting forth full particulars of all compensation that will be claimed by him in the event of such Proclamation being made.

No person will be entitled to any compensation for damage or injury consequent on the operation of such Proclamation unless his claim is duly served in the manner and within the period aforesaid.

SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.

That stream, known as Pouahiri Creek, situated in the Southland Land District, which flows southerly and south-easterly for a distance of about three miles from its source in Block VII, Longwood Survey District, to Kawakapatu Bay; and also the several tributaries thereof.

That stream, known as Ouki Stream, which flows south-westerly from its source near the north-eastern corner of Block V, Longwood Survey District, for a distance of about three miles and a half to Foveaux Strait, and also the several tributaries thereof.

Dated at Wellington, this fourth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and nine.
