Notice respecting Proposed Alteration in Boundaries of City of Christchurch.

Office of the Minister of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 27th November,, 1909.

PURSUANT to section 118 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908,” His Excellency the Governor directs it to be notified that a petition in accordance with regulations, signed by not less than one-fourth of the electors of the area described in the Schedule hereto, has been presented to him, praying that the said area may be excluded from the Riccarton Road District, County of Selwyn, and included in the City of Christchurch, and added to the Sydenham Ward of the said city. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to, or petitions against, the proposed alteration within one month from the first publication of this notice. Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded towards the north generally by the Avon River from the eastern side of Straven Street, in Rural Section No. 163, to a point opposite the north-eastern side of Boundary Road; thence by a right line across the said Avon River, and by the City of Christchurch to Park Terrace; thence towards the east by the City of Christchurch to the southern side of Lincoln Road; thence towards the south-east by the City of Christchurch to Bright’s Road; thence across Lincoln Road, and by the said Lincoln Road to the north-eastern boundary of the Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s show-grounds; thence towards the south-west generally by the said Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s show-grounds to the Christchurch-Dunedin Railway line; thence across and by the northern side of the said railway-line to the south-eastern boundary of Rural Section No. 145; thence north-easterly by the said south-eastern boundary of Rural Section No. 145 for a distance of 520 links; thence by a right line bearing 352° 33', distance 946 links, to Princess Street; thence across Princess Street, and by Blenheim Road to Cutler’s Road; thence by Cutler’s Road to Riccarton Road; thence again towards the north by Riccarton Road to a point in line with the eastern side of Straven Street; and thence towards the west by a right line across Riccarton Road, and by the said Straven Street to the Avon River, the place of commencement.

Special Orders made by the Council of the County of Stratford.

THE following special orders, made by the Stratford County Council, are published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

STRATFORD COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order making Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Stratford County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £61, being a portion of the further advance of 10 per cent. on the original loan of £1,220, authorised to be raised by the Stratford County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of completing the construction of a portion of the Pembroke Road as originally proposed, the said Stratford County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Pembroke Road No. 3 Special-rating District, comprising part Section 52 (266 acres), Sections 9, 12, part 13 (80 acres), 14, 106, 39, 8, 6, 7, 4, 5, 3, 2, and 1 of Block IV, Kaupokonui Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The resolution instituting the above special order was passed at a special meeting of the Stratford County Council held on the 20th day of October, 1909, and was confirmed at a meeting of the Council held on the 24th day of November, 1909.

STRATFORD COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order making Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Stratford County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £2,500, authorised to be raised by the Stratford County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of defraying the cost of re-forming, culverting, bridging, and metalling the Makuri (Huiroa) Road from the Douglas Road to the Mohakau Road, the said Stratford County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 8d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the East Makuri Road Special-rating District No. 2, comprising Sections 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 27, the southern half of 13, the north-eastern half of 18, the north-western half of 22, and the eastern half of 28, of Block IX, Ngatimaru Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of February in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The resolution instituting the above special order was passed at a special meeting of the Stratford County Council held on the 20th day of October, 1909, and was confirmed at a meeting of the Council held on the 24th day of November, 1909.
