Allocating Land reserved and taken for a Railway to the
Purposes of a Road at Addington.

PLUNKET, Governor.
A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
forms part of land taken for the purposes of the
Hurunui-Waitaki Railway, and it is considered desirable to
allocate such land to the purposes of a road:
And whereas it has been certified by the Minister of
Railways that such land is not required for railway pur-
poses: And whereas such land is situated in the Riccarton
Road District, the local authority of which has assented to
the issue of this Proclamation:
And whereas His Excellency the Governor is of opinion
that the said local authority can conveniently construct and
maintain the said road:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the
Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by
section one hundred and ninety-seven of “The Public
Works Act, 1908,” and of every other power and authority
in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim
and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto
shall, upon the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette,
become a road, and that the said road shall be under the con-
trol of the Riccarton Road Board, and shall be maintained
by the said Board in like manner as other public highways
are controlled and maintained by the said Board.
SCHEDULE.
All that parcel of land in the Land District of Canterbury,
containing 32·3 perches, more or less, being a portion of
Rural Section No. 9, situated in Block XI, Christchurch
Survey District, and being bounded as follows: On the
north by the south side of the Government drain crossing
under the line of the Addington-Hurunui Railway at about
22 chains 77 links on the railway mileage, a distance of
217·59 links; on the south-west by the north-east side of the
road forming the south-western boundary of the railway
land, a distance of 145·4 links; on the south by other portion
of the railway land, a distance of 187·45 links; and on the
north-east by the north-eastern boundary of the railway
land: as the said parcel of land is shown coloured purple on
the plan marked W.R. 16630, deposited in the office of the
Minister of Railways, at Wellington.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and thirty-three,
subsection (c), of “The Public Works Act, 1908,”
it is enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation pub-
licly notified, stop or alter the course of any Government
road or any part thereof: And whereas the Government
road described in the Schedule hereto is no longer required
for the purpose of a road in Blocks X and XIV, Tauranga
Survey District:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the
Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of
the above-in-part-recited Act, and of all other powers in
anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim as
stopped the road in Blocks X and XIV, Tauranga Survey
District, hereinafter described.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this third day
of December, 1908.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and thirty-three,
(a), of “The Public Works Act, 1908,” it is
enacted that a local authority shall not declare any county
or district road to be stopped, and such road shall not be
deemed to be stopped, until the consent thereto of the
Governor by Order in Council gazetted is obtained:
And whereas the Rangiora and Mandeville Road Board
has applied for such consent in respect to the road described
in the Schedule hereto:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the
above-in-part-recited Act, and of all other powers in any-
wise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Go-
vernor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of
the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the Rangiora and
Mandeville Road Board closing the road mentioned in the
Schedule hereto.
