IT is hereby notified for general information that Friday,
the 25th December, Saturday, the 26th December, and
Monday, the 28th December, 1908, and Friday, the 1st
January, and Saturday, the 2nd January, 1909, will be
observed as holidays in the public offices of the Government
of New Zealand.

Examination for Dredgemasters’ Certificates.
Mines Department,
Wellington, 9th October, 1908.
AN examination of candidates for certificates as
dredgemasters, under “The Mining Act, 1908,” will
be held on Tuesday, the 13th April, 1909, at Greymouth
and Clyde. All applications, with necessary certificates,
and fee of £1 by post-office order, should be addressed to
“The Secretary, Board of Examiners under the Mining
Act, Wellington,” and must be received on or before the
8th March, 1909. Forms of application may be obtained
from Inspectors of Mines, Westport, Reefton, Clyde, and
Dunedin.

stating that his certificates of service have been accepted by the

Examination for Mine-managers’ and Battery Superintendents’
Certificates.

WRITTEN and oral examinations of candidates for cer-
tificates as First- and Second-class Mine-managers
and Battery Superintendents under “The Mining Act,
1908,” and First- and Second-class Mine-managers under
“The Coal-mines Act, 1908,” will be held on Tuesday,
the 6th April, 1909, and following days, at the Thames,
Waihi, Reefton, and Dunedin. All applications, with neces-
sary certificates, and fee of £1 by post-office order, should
be addressed to “The Secretary, Board of Examiners under
the Mining Act [or Coal-mines Act], Wellington,” and must
be received on or before the 8th March, 1909. Forms
of application may be obtained at any School of Mines, and
from Inspectors of Mines.

No. 65, Parish of Kaeo, in the Provincial District of
Auckland. Bounded on the north by other part of Allot-
ment No. 65, 3200 links; on the east by lines, 500 links,
201 links, 148 links, 562 links, and 30 links; on the south
by Allotment No. 66, 4840 links; and on the west by a
road. The registered owner of the land is John Stewart
Crowe, described as of Taranaki, military settler, who
cannot now be traced.
WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted in-
quiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the
owner or owners of the above-described land is or are,
and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the
Dominion :
Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, with-
in six months of the date of the publication of this notice
in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the
Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in
