Notifying Lands in Wellington Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred and twenty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Friday, the eleventh day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eight, as the time at which the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.

Piriaka is situated on the left bank of the Wanganui River, on the North Island Main Trunk Railway, about five miles south-east from the railway-bridge over the river. The sections offered comprise undulating pumice land with a few inches of soil, covered with manuka of various heights.

The owners of any improvements there may be on the sections will be allowed one month from date of sale to remove them if they do not become the purchasers.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eleventh day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Locality and Description.

Ninia is situated on the North Island Main Trunk Railway, about seventy-nine miles from Marton. The sections offered are level, and covered with tussock, rushes, and grass. The soil is pumice grit, with a fair amount of vegetable matter intermixed, overlying volcanic débris on papa formation. The Waitaki Stream, on which the town is situated, and other streams in the vicinity are visited by a good number of anglers. It is likely that tourists will visit the locality in the summer season, as Mount Ruapehu is in the vicinity. The altitude of the town is about 1,900 ft. above sea-level.

Opening Land in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eight; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

Altitude, from 250 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken country; about 20 acres manuka scrub, balance heavy mixed forest, comprising tawa, rewarewa, towai, hinau, mangiao, rimu, and rata, with heavy undergrowth of supplejack, makomako, kotukutuku. Soil of medium quality, on papa formation; well watered by streams. Situated in the Kinohaku Village Settlement, seven miles from Kinohaku—five miles formed 6 ft. track, balance rough track, unformed.
