Volunteer Regulations amended.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
on me by “The Defence Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron
Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby
revoke and amend, in the manner and to the extent set forth in the
Schedule hereto, such of the General Regulations of the Defence
Forces of New Zealand, made on the eighth day of February, one
thousand nine hundred and six, and published in the New Zealand
Gazette of the same date, with amendments thereto, as are set forth
in the said Schedule, and do hereby also make the additional regulations set out in such Schedule. And I do hereby declare that such
revocation shall take effect and such amendments and additional
regulations shall come into force on the fourth day of November,
one thousand nine hundred and eight.
SCHEDULE.
- THE following regulations, including all amendments thereof
heretofore made, are hereby amended as set forth hereunder:—
Regulation 1, as amended on the 26th March, 1908, is hereby
further amended by the addition at the end of the regulation of the
words “except that in the case of Defence Cadet Corps composed
of students attending high schools or colleges, the year shall begin
on the first day of January, and end on the thirty-first day of
December following.”
Regulation 1, as amended on the 26th March, 1908, is hereby
further amended by omitting the words “a Bearer Corps” from
the definition of “corps,” and substituting in lieu thereof the
words “a Field Ambulance.”
Regulation 3, (c), as amended on the 21st February, 1907, is
hereby further amended by altering the heading to “New Zealand
Field Engineers,” and by omitting the words “(Submarine Mining
and Field)” in the subheading.
Regulation 3, (g), Field Hospital and Bearer Companies, is
hereby revoked.
Regulation 3, (h), as remade on the 9th March, 1908, is hereby
amended by revoking paragraph (iv).
Regulation 106, as amended on the 26th March, 1908, and 7th
May, 1908, is hereby further amended by omitting the portion
relating to the examination of officers of Field Hospital and Bearer
Corps.
Regulations 108 and 109 are hereby amended by omitting the
references to Bearer Companies.
Regulation 123, (3), as remade on the 7th May, 1908, is hereby
amended by altering the figures in the last two columns of maximum
establishment to 47 and 52 respectively.
Regulations 128 to 134, and all amendments thereof heretofore
made, are hereby revoked, and the following regulations substituted
in lieu thereof:—
NEW ZEALAND VETERINARY CORPS.
Regulation 128. (1.) All Veterinary officers shall be formed into
a corps to be called the “New Zealand Veterinary Corps.”
(2.) Veterinary officers, although belonging to the non-combatant
branch, shall rank relatively with combatant officers. Officers, on
joining the corps, shall be appointed to the rank of Captain.
(3.) All officers of the Veterinary Corps must be members of the
“Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons,” or hold equivalent credentials, judged to be equivalent in the estimation of the Director-General.
Regulation 129. (1.) The Officer Commanding the New Zealand
Veterinary Corps shall be designated “The Director-General of
Veterinary Services.”
(2.) Such Officer Commanding shall be charged with the administration of the Veterinary Services of the Dominion, the supervision of the Veterinary duties of and the supply of Veterinary Stores to the Defence Forces. He shall recommend to the Council
of Defence gentlemen for commissions in the New Zealand Veterinary Corps, and examine into the qualifications of all persons whose names are submitted to him by the Principal Veterinary Officers.
(3.) Such Officer Commanding shall nominate officers to the
Council of Defence for the appointment of Principal Veterinary
Officers of districts and commands, and advise on all promotions.
