Opening Settlement Land in Southland Land District for Selection.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” and “The Land for Settlements Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eight, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—WALLACE COUNTY.—WAIAU SURVEY DISTRICT.—MERRIVALE SETTLEMENT.

Second-class Land.

Weighted with £249 15s., valuation for improvements, consisting of house (eight rooms), chaff-house, stable, byre, and fencing.

One hundred and forty-four acres mixed bush, remainder open undulating land, half of which has been cultivated; soil of medium quality; permanently watered. Situated three miles from dairy factory and school, four miles from post and telegraph office, seventeen miles from Otatau, and forty-nine miles from Invercargill.

Opening Land in Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the rural land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on Monday, the twenty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eight; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on renewable lease only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as it contains, or is supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—COROMANDEL COUNTY.—COROMANDEL SURVEY DISTRICT.

Second-class Land.

Altitude, from 100 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Old kauri workings, burnt and overgrown with fern and scrub; soil of fair quality, on slate formation; well watered by streams. Situated on the Coromandel–Mercury Bay Road, about eight miles from Whitianga.

MANUKAU COUNTY.—WAIPPI PARISH.

Altitude, from 80 ft. to 150 ft. above sea-level. About 5 acres flat, balance inferior broken country; all covered with fern and manuka scrub; clay soil of very inferior quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by stream and swampy springs. Access from Te Toro Wharf, about two miles by cart-road.

WAITOMO COUNTY.—PIRONGIA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, from 200 ft. to 400 ft. above sea-level. Broken land, only suited for grazing; covered with fern and manuka scrub; light soil, on rhyolite formation; well watered by streams and swamps. Situated eight miles from Otorohanga by wagon-road.
