lands, whether Crown or private, should be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and report on the land described in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended that the said land should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereunder shall be a scenic reserve under “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1908,” and shall be subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

WAIRERE FALLS, NEAR TE AROHA.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 128 acres, more or less, being Section 11, Block XI, Wairere Survey District. Bounded towards the north by a right line running due east from the north-eastern corner of Section 8, 5603·6 links; towards the east by a right line bearing 168° 41′, distance 1768·8 links; towards the south by the Wairere Stream; and towards the west by Sections 9 and 8 of the aforesaid Block XI, 3476·3 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked 300/8, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this seventh day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eight.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-second day of October, 1908.

Present:

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD, K.C.M.G.,
PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is Native land, and is required to be taken for the purposes of a stock paddock:

And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners under a title which is not derived from the Crown:

And whereas a map of the said land has been prepared in duplicate, as required by the ninetieth section of “The Public Works Act, 1908”:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1908,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby proclaim and declare that the land shown upon such map, and described in the Schedule hereto, is hereby taken for the purpose of a stock paddock as aforesaid; and the said land shall vest in His Majesty the King as from the thirtieth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority vested in him under “The Land and Income Assessment Act, 1908,” and “The Land-tax and Income-tax Act, 1908,” His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and determine that the respective duties leviable under the said Acts by way of land-tax and of further graduated land-tax shall be paid in one sum on Monday, the thirtieth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eight:
