THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and
other charges on a loan of £5,000, authorised to be raised by
the Newmarket Borough Council, under the above-mentioned
Act, for drainage-works within the Borough of Newmarket,
the said Newmarket Borough Council hereby makes and
levies a special rate of 5d. in the pound upon the rateable
value of all rateable property in the whole of the Borough
of Newmarket; and that such special rate shall be an annual-
recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be pay-
able half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of
October in each and every year during the currency of such
loan, being a period of twenty-five years, or until the loan is
fully paid off.

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly
passed at a special meeting of the Borough Council of the
Borough of Newmarket held on the 14th day of September,
1908, and confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the Council
of the said borough held on the 19th day of October, 1908.

County Council, are published in accordance with the
provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order No. 1.

THE Piako County Council, in terms of subsection (3) of sec-
tion 14 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and as
authorised by subsection (3) of section 118 of “The Public
Works Act, 1905,” doth hereby raise and borrow from the
Colonial Treasurer, under Part II of “The Local Bodies’
Loans Act, 1901,” a special loan of £3,000 for the purpose of
providing the Council’s share of the cost of constructing the
bridge over the Waihou River at Te Aroha, at the foot of
Kenrick Street, Te Aroha, and the approaches thereto, as set
forth in the Governor’s Warrant gazetted on page 916 of the
New Zealand Gazette, 1908; the proposed security for which
loan shall be a special annual-recurring rate for thirty-two
years of 3½d. in the pound upon the capital value of the rate-
able property in the Piako County, such providing interest at
the rate of 4 per centum per annum, which being paid for
the period aforesaid pays off the loan, and is the provision
for repayment thereof, and the cost of raising such loan
shall be paid thereout, but not the interest for the first
year.

Special Order No. 2.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and by
section 118 of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” the Piako
County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the
purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan
of £8,000, authorised to be raised by the said Council, under
the above-mentioned Acts, from the Colonial Treasurer for a
period of thirty-two years at 4 per centum per annum, for the
purpose of providing the said Council’s share of the cost of
constructing that bridge over the Waihou River at Te Aroha,
at the foot of Kenrick Street, Te Aroha, and the approaches
thereto, as set forth in the Governor’s Warrant gazetted on
page 916 of the New Zealand Gazette, 1908, the said Piako
County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of
3½d. in the pound upon the capital value of the rateable
property in the Piako County; and such special rate shall be
an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan,
and be payable half-yearly on the 1st days of April and
October in each and every year during the currency of such
loan, being a period of thirty-two years, or until the loan is
fully paid off.

I, Thomas Gavin, Chairman of the Piako County Council,
do hereby certify that the above special orders (2) were
passed at a special meeting of the Piako County Council
held on the 17th day of August, 1908, and were duly con-
firmed at a subsequent special meeting of the said Council
held on the 21st day of September, 1908.

RANGITAIKI DRAINAGE BOARD.

Outlet Loan Proposal.

I HEREBY give notice that the poll held on the 19th day of
October, 1908, on the proposal to raise a loan of £6,000 for
the purpose of making a new outlet for the Rangitaiki River
to the sea, resulted as follows: For the proposal, 31 votes;
against the proposal, 42 votes: total number of votes re-
corded, 73.

I therefore declare the proposal to be rejected.

RAGLAN COUNTY.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan of £2,000. — Kaniwha-
niwha Special-rating District.

Under Sections 12 and 13 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans
Act, 1901.”

I HEREBY notify that the following is the result of the poll
of ratepayers taken over the Kaniwhaniwha Special-rating
District on the 24th day of October, 1908, on the proposal to
borrow the sum of £2,000 for the purpose of forming and
metalling the road from Harapepe to Karamu and part of
the Kaniwhaniwha Road; £1,375 of this amount to be ex-
pended in forming and metalling the road commencing
at Section 224 (Smith’s Hill) on the Kaniwhaniwha Road
and continuing to the Harapepe to Karamu Road, and
thence continuously along the Harapepe to Karamu Road
towards Noble’s; £500 to be spent in forming and metalling
the Harapepe to Karamu Road between Noble’s and the
Raglan-Waipa Road finger-post; and the balance of £125 to
be expended in forming and metalling the Harapepe to
Karamu Road from its junction with the Kaniwhaniwha
Road south towards Harapepe: and to levy a special rate of
1½d. in the pound within the Special-rating District of Ka-
niwhaniwha as security for such loan, which is for forty-one
years at 3½ per cent.

Number of valid votes recorded, 37. For the proposal, 28;
against the proposal, 9.

The number of valid votes recorded in favour of the pro-
posal being more than three-fifths of the total number of
valid votes recorded, I hereby declare the proposal to be
carried.
