Forbidding the Issue of Money-order and Forwarding of Postal Correspondence for Chester Howard, Hobart, Tasmania.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in a fraudulent or unlawful business, it is hereby ordered, under section 9 of “The Post Office Act Amendment Act, 1906,” that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or any fictitious or assumed name), or to such address without a name, shall be either registered, forwarded, or delivered by the Post Office of New Zealand.

Right of Way in Favour of Janet Browne over Railway Land assented to.

In the matter of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” and “The Government Railways Act, 1900”; and in the matter of a grant of a right of way to Janet Browne, of Caversham, in the City of Dunedin, widow, as part compensation for land taken for railway purposes.

WHEREAS by a Proclamation published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 79, of 13th September, 1906, and deposited in the District Land Registry Office, at Dunedin, as No. 2011, all that parcel of land, containing 16·5 perches, being Allotment No. 11 of Section 22, Block VI, Township of Sydney, in the City of Dunedin, was taken for the purposes of the Waitaki–Bluff Railway: And whereas Janet Browne, of Caversham, in the City of Dunedin, widow, is the person entitled to the compensation payable for or in respect of the said land: And whereas the Minister for Railways has agreed to grant to the said Janet Browne a right of way over a portion of the railway land in Section 19 of Block VI, Town Survey District, and in Allotment No. 11 of Section 22 of Block VI, Township of Sydney, as part satisfaction and mitigation of the compensation so payable as aforesaid:

Now, therefore, I, Joseph George Ward, P.C., K.C.M.G., Acting Minister for Railways, do hereby give notice, in pursuance of the provisions of section eighty-four of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” that a memorandum of agreement, dated the 26th day of November, 1907, agreeing to grant such right of way to the said Janet Browne, her heirs, executors, administrators, assigns, and successors, was this day assented to by me.

Notice of Intention to take Land in the City of Auckland for a Branch Post-office.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” to execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of a branch post-office at Auckland, and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Public Works Office, at Auckland, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.

Approving and appointing a Bonding Warehouse.

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the powers in me for this purpose vested by “The Customs Laws Consolidation Act, 1882,” I, the Minister of Customs, do hereby approve and appoint the undermentioned warehouse to be a warehouse for the reception of goods under bond, namely,—

Notice to Mariners No. 5 of 1908.

BLUFF HARBOUR LIGHT-VESSEL.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 24th January, 1908.

NOTICE is hereby given that a new light-vessel has been placed in Bluff Harbour in the same position and in lieu of the old one which sank in July, 1906. The light-vessel will show a fixed white light, visible all round the horizon (except when obscured by the land) for a distance of about eight miles. The black buoy which marked the position has been removed.
