Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and in pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by the said Act, and of every other power and authority in any-wise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the bridge mentioned in the Schedule hereto and known as the Mangatainoka Bridge (hereinafter called “the said bridge”), together with the approaches thereto for a distance of ten chains both above and below the said bridge, and of all protective works, whether inside or outside the aforesaid ten chains, both above and below the said bridge (and which protective works are hereby declared and defined to be part of the said bridge), shall, from and after the date of this Warrant, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of the Pahiatua Borough Council; and, in further pursuance and exercise of the powers aforesaid, I do hereby fix and determine that the cost of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing the said bridge, together with the approaches and protective works, is to be provided and paid by the local authorities hereinafter mentioned in the following proportions, in terms of an agreement entered into between the Pahiatua County Council and the Pahiatua Borough Council, and dated the eleventh day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eight, viz.: The Borough Council of Pahiatua to pay sixty per centum and the Pahiatua County Council to pay forty per centum of such cost respectively.

And I do also hereby direct that the contribution hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the Pahiatua County Council towards the cost of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing the said bridge, approaches, and protective works shall be paid from time to time, in the proportion hereinbefore prescribed and agreed upon, by the County of Pahiatua out of the county fund of the said County of Pahiatua, within a period of three months after a demand in writing made by or on behalf of the Borough Council of Pahiatua, stating the amount so required to be paid and the purpose for which it is so required, shall have been left at the office of the Pahiatua County Council, and the payments so to be made shall be made from time to time to the Clerk of the Pahiatua Borough Council for and on behalf of the County Council of Pahiatua.

And I do hereby cancel and revoke the Proclamation dated the twenty-sixth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, vesting the control of and apportioning the cost of maintaining the said bridge, published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 10, of the seventh day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five.

SCHEDULE.

THAT bridge over the Mangatainoka River known as the Mangatainoka Bridge, together with the approaches thereto for a distance of 10 chains at both ends of the said bridge, situated on the Mangahao Road, partly in the Borough of Pahiatua and partly in the Pahiatua County; as the site of the said bridge is delineated on the plan marked R. 965, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon marked in red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this second day of October, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Appointing Returning Officer for First Election of Members of Whangarei Harbour Board.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the eighth section of “The Whangarei Harbour Act, 1907,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

of Whangarei, to be the Returning Officer to conduct the election of the first Board under the said Act, which is to be held on Wednesday, the eleventh day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Appointment of Trustees, Christchurch Volunteer Drill-shed Reserve.

IN exercise and pursuance of the power and authority conferred by “The Defence Act, 1908” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, doth hereby constitute and appoint

Lieutenant-Colonel HENRY SLATER, V.D., Retired List;
Lieutenant-Colonel WILLIAM ALEXANDER DAY, V.D., Active List (Unattached);
Lieutenant-Colonel ROCHFORT SNOW, Active List (Unattached); and
Lieutenant-Colonel GEORGE JOHN SMITH, 2nd North Canterbury Battalion of Infantry Volunteers,

to be Trustees of all that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, being all those six quarter-acre sections of land situate in and fronting upon Cashel Street and Montreal Street, in the City of Christchurch, and being the sections numbered 464, 466, 468, 470, 472, and 474, and delineated on the map setting out and describing the said city, deposited in the Survey Office of Christchurch aforesaid; together with all buildings erected thereon: to hold the said several premises for the purpose of maintaining a drill-shed for Volunteer purposes, and generally for the purposes of and with the powers conferred by the said Act. And it is hereby declared that the said Trustees shall be incorporated under the name of “The Trustees of the Christchurch Volunteer Drill-shed Reserve,” and that they shall take office as such Trustees on the twenty-ninth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Lands temporarily reserved for Use of Railway Department as Sites for Buildings in Rangaroa Village Settlement, Auckland Land District.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of “The Land Act, 1908,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Auckland Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the use of the Railway Department as sites for buildings.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood 30 perches, more or less, being Section No. 13, Block II, Rangaroa Village Settlement, situated in Block I, Piopioea Survey District. Bounded towards the east generally by Ward Street; towards the south-west by the North Island Main Trunk Railway; and towards the north-west by Section No. 12, Block II, Rangaroa Village Settlement: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 58662/8A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres, more or less, being Section No. 11, Block VII, Rangaroa Village Settlement, situated in Block I, Piopioea Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by North Street; towards the south-east by Sections Nos. 12 and 2, Block VII, Rangaroa Village Settlement; towards the south-west by Sections Nos. 7, 8, 9, and 10 of the aforesaid block; and towards the north-west by West Street: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 58662/8B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-ninth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and eight.
