  1. No person shall place, deposit, or leave any bottle or glassware (whether broken or whole), paper, straw, litter, dirt, rubbish, or any offensive or noxious matter of any kind, within the reserves or any part thereof, except in receptacles provided for the purpose by the General Manager or officer in charge of the reserves.

  2. No horse, dog, or other animal shall be allowed inside the reserves or any part thereof subject to these by-laws; and the owner of any horse, dog, or other animal shall be liable to a fine not exceeding one pound for each time such horse, dog, or other animal trespasses or is allowed to trespass on the reserves.

This by-law does not apply to horses drawing any carriage, nor to saddled horses in charge of the rider or attendant, nor to dogs which are led by a cord or chain, passing into or through the reserves.

  1. No person shall be allowed to ride a bicycle through the reserves or any portion thereof; and any person so doing shall be liable to a fine not exceeding one pound.

  2. No person shall trespass upon any portion of the reserves within any enclosure which may be set apart for planting, or where the soil is loose, or upon grass kept cut for lawns or ornamental purposes. Any person infringing this by-law shall be liable to a fine not exceeding one pound.

  3. The bowling-green shall be open to players during such months as are fixed by the General Manager.

  4. The hours of play on the bowling-green shall be as may be fixed from time to time by the General Manager. Charges shall be made for playing bowls, and shall be as set forth in the Third Schedule hereof. No person shall be allowed to play without first purchasing a player’s ticket. Any person who is a weekly-, monthly-, or season-ticket holder shall be liable to have his ticket cancelled should he commit or cause a breach of any of these by-laws.

  5. All playing-fees shall be paid in advance, and a ticket obtained.

  6. Season, monthly, or weekly tickets shall be obtained at the ticket-office only, and must be submitted to the attendant for inspection on demand.

  7. Single-game tickets shall be obtained from the attendant, and must be given up to him on demand.

  8. Material for playing shall be obtained from the attendant, and players shall return it to him before leaving the grounds: Provided that weekly-, monthly-, and season-ticket holders shall furnish their own material.

  9. Players shall not play more than one game when other persons desire to play.

  10. Bowl-players shall deliver their bowls with both feet on a mat, and must not drop any bowl on the green.

  11. Persons not engaged in the games shall not trespass on the bowling-green.

  12. Persons wearing boots or shoes with nails or heels shall not be allowed on the bowling-green.

  13. Any person behaving to the annoyance of others shall be required by the gardener, or any officer having control or charge of the grounds, to leave the playing-grounds, and may be prohibited from again entering them. Any person refusing to quit any such ground on being so required shall be guilty of an offence against these by-laws.

  14. The General Manager shall have the right to refuse to issue tickets to any person or persons.

  15. Every person using or passing through the reserves subject to these by-laws, or any part thereof, shall conform to and abide by these by-laws; and if any such person commits any indecency or breach of the peace, or is guilty of any disorderly conduct, he shall be liable as for a breach of these by-laws.

  16. For the purposes hereof the General Manager of Tourist and Health Resorts shall have charge of the reserves and the grounds, enclosures, paths, and the premises pertaining thereto; and, as regards any part of the reserves subject to these by-laws, the gardener or other person in charge thereof for the time being shall have authority to carry out these by-laws.

  17. Except where otherwise specially provided, every person who commits a breach of or fails to observe the provisions of these by-laws shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding five pounds.

  18. The term “General Manager,” when mentioned in these by-laws, means the person for the time being holding the office of General Manager of the Department of Tourist and Health Resorts, or (except where the context requires a different construction) such person as shall be duly authorised to act for him.

THIRD SCHEDULE.

The charges for players’ tickets for bowls shall be: Single game, 6d. per player for each game; weekly tickets, 2s.; monthly tickets, 6s.; season tickets, 20s.

Regulations regarding keeping Trout in Freezing or Cool Chambers during Close Season.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixth day of October, 1908.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS it is enacted by section eighty-three of “The Fisheries Act, 1908,” that the Governor may from time to time, by Order in Council gazetted, make regulations to have force and effect throughout New Zealand, or only in such waters or places as are specified in the regulations, for, amongst other things, prohibiting or regulating the possession during the close season of any fish, whether frozen or chilled or not, of a like species or variety to any fish existing or acclimatised in New Zealand:

And whereas it is desirable to make regulations regarding the possession during the close season of trout of any species:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the hereinbefore-recited power and authority, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following regulations, and doth order that they shall have force and effect throughout New Zealand:—

REGULATIONS.

  1. Any holder of a license to take trout by means of a rod and running line may, during the open season for trout-fishing, place in any freezing or cool chamber any trout so taken, which may be kept in such chamber until required by such license-holder, subject to the restrictions as to weight hereinafter imposed.

  2. When placing trout in a freezing or cool chamber the person placing it therein shall forthwith furnish the secretary of the acclimatisation society in whose district such chamber is situated with the number of the depositor’s license, and the name of the acclimatisation district in which it was issued, and also with a written statement as to the number and weight of trout placed in such chamber, and the date such trout was placed therein.

  3. On or before the second day of June in every year in the case of the Rotorua Acclimatisation District, and on or before the second day of May in every year in the case of other acclimatisation districts, the secretary or fishery officer of the acclimatisation society in whose district the chamber is situated shall inspect and verify the weight of trout deposited therein, and the manager or person in charge of the chamber shall furnish such secretary or fishery officer with full particulars of such trout, and shall permit such secretary or any fishery officer to inspect such trout then and at any time whilst they are in the chamber.

  4. The holder of a license shall not at any time be allowed to have more than fifty-six (56) pounds total weight of trout in any freezing or cool chamber.

  5. The manager or person in charge of a freezing or cool chamber shall deliver any trout deposited therein in manner aforesaid to their owner only or to his order, when authorised to do so by the secretary of the acclimatisation society, and such secretary shall grant the necessary authority when required by the owner to do so. The manager of the freezing or cool chamber shall forthwith submit to such secretary or fishery officer a statement of the number and weight of trout delivered in accordance with such authority.

  6. The manager or person in charge of a freezing or cool chamber in which trout are deposited shall keep a register thereof in the following form, and shall allow the acclimatisation society’s secretary or fishery officer to inspect such register at any time:—
