Crown Lands permanently reserved for Landless Natives.

PLUNKET, Governor.
A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the third section of “The South Island Landless Natives Act, 1906,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, by Proclamation, declare that any Crown land shall, whether the same has been surveyed or not, be set aside temporarily for the purpose of providing land for landless Natives in the South Island:
And whereas by the fourth section of the said Act it is provided that land temporarily reserved under the said third section may, at the expiration of one month but not later than six months after the publication in the Kahiti of notice of such temporary reservation, be permanently reserved, and that notice of such permanent reservation shall be published in the Kahiti:
And whereas the lands specified in the first column of the Schedule hereto were, by the Proclamation the date of which is specified in the second column of the said Schedule, and the notification of which was published in the Kahiti on the date specified in the third column of the said Schedule, temporarily reserved under the authority of the said Act for the purpose of providing land for landless Natives in the South Island:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby permanently reserve the lands so temporarily reserved as aforesaid, and enumerated in the first column of the Schedule hereto, for the purpose of providing land for landless Natives in the South Island.

Proclaiming a Lunatic Asylum.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by “The Lunatics Act, 1908,” it is enacted that the Governor in Council may from time to time, by Proclamation, proclaim any house or building provided or deemed suitable for the reception of lunatics, and wholly or in part supported out of any money appropriated for the purpose by the General Assembly, or wholly or in part supported by or at the cost of any local authority, to be a “lunatic asylum” within the meaning of the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby proclaim the building known as “the separate cells,” situated on the north side of His Majesty's Prison at Lyttelton, in the Provincial District of Canterbury, being a building deemed suitable for the reception of lunatics, and wholly supported out of money appropriated by the General Assembly, to be a “lunatic asylum” within the meaning of the said “Lunatics Act, 1908.”

Native Land taken for the Purposes of a Road in Maunu No. 1ε No. 3 North No. 5a, Block XI, Purua Survey District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of September, 1908.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public work, to wit, for the purposes of a road in Maunu No. 1ε No. 3 North No. 5a, Block XI, Purua Survey District:
And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners under a title which is not derived from the Crown:
And whereas a map in duplicate has been prepared of the said land, as required by the ninetieth section of “The Public Works Act, 1908”:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by the ninetieth section of the said Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that the land shown upon such map, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be deemed to be taken for the purposes of the said road as from the fifth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eight.
