Reserve in Marlborough Land District for Lease by Public Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned reserve will be offered for lease by public auction for a term of fourteen years, at this office, on Wednesday, the 11th day of November, 1908, under the provisions of “The Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908.”

SCHEDULE.
MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT. — WAKAMARINA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Weighted with £25, valuation for fencing, not on but acting as boundaries.

Locality and Description.

Situated on main coach-road, adjoining Canvastown, and distant five miles from the Town of Havelock.

Very steep open country, rising about 1,400 ft. in 25 chains. Good grazing-ground for sheep, being of fair quality and having a sunny aspect.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

1. Possession will be given on the 1st day of January, 1909.

2. The lessee shall have no right to compensation either for any improvements that may be placed upon the land or for any other cause.

3. The lessee shall have no right to sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the whole or any portion of the land during the term of the lease, without the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands first obtained.

4. The lessee shall destroy all rabbits on the land, and shall prevent their increase or spread, to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

5. The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of gorse, broom, sweetbriar, and other noxious weeds or plants on the land comprised in the lease; and shall with all reasonable despatch remove, or cause to be removed, all gorse, broom, sweetbriar, or other noxious weeds or plants, as may be directed by the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

6. The rent shall be payable half-yearly in advance, free from all deductions whatsoever.

7. The lease shall be liable to forfeiture in case the lessee shall fail to fulfil any of the conditions of the said lease within thirty days after the date on which the same ought to be fulfilled.

8. Travelling stock, if required, shall be depastured at the following rates per head per night:—

| Sheep, the first 25 | 0 0½ |
| Above 25 and under 50 | 0 0¼ |

Situated on the east bank of the Karetu River, about four miles from Loburn, and twelve miles by good road from the Ashley Railway-station. About 20 acres consists of alluvial river-flats, the balance open undulating land, of which about 80 acres is ploughable. The soil is a sour clay, and carries vegetation of bracken, manuka, tussock, &c.
